We stopped for lunch on way to Donegal on Tuesday. We wanted to check the hotel out with a view to going for a stay in the near future. We received a very warm welcome from the receptionist and received the same sort of attention in the dining room. We were very pleased with the food which was full of flavour and well presented, so impressed we decided to call for lunch on our return journey and had discussed when we could go for a break. We arrived around 12.30 on the Friday and encountered the most unwelcoming, unhelpful person on reception, she spoke to us the whole time from half under desk and all we could make out was wedding, conservatory, alright. She couldn't get rid of us fast enough so we turned and walked out. Don't think we will be going back there for a stay anytime soon. We did however end up in the Everglades hotel and found the staff helpful, professional, and extremely attentive. The food was excellent.

From its location, its about 4 miles outside Derry, however the hotel is located in beautiful gardens with waterfalls and waterwheel, the rooms are very large, with a double bed that's more like a king+double combined, with a mattress you sink into, wonderful sleep, bathrooms are dated, and the only issue I had was the towels, 2 bath towels are provided, but they are not really bath towels, maybe upgrade them? had a meal in the restaurant on the first night, the restaurant I would recommend, excellent food and service, breakfast also excellent, buffet continental , cooked provided to order, which is so good to see these days from the normal hot buffet breakfasts in hotels these days. Staff are wonderful, very attentive, and the hotel also has a lot of history, its takes time to look at all the pictures that are displayed with its connnections to the US. If your going to Derry, I recommend

A visit to Derry/Londonderry for a City of Culture event brought a trip to Beech Hill for the first time in many years. The hotel is beautifully set in manicured grounds, and its sash windows and antique furniture contribute considerably to its ambience. The staff, most particularly reception staff are simply magnificent - friendly, insightful and helpful. Our room in the new part of the hotel was comfortable, well appointed and spacious. We could not have asked for more. The restaurant food is as good as ever. We requested a supper plate for after the performance, and were delighted with the quality and imaginative dish produced. The wine list is comprehensive and very well priced. I would love to give 5 stars to this establishment, but we did feel that breakfast was not particularly good.Several items from the buffet were lukewarm, and it did fail to match the quality of evening dining. It would be nice also if some Irish wheaten and soda breads were available for guests. However, we greatly enjoyed our short stay, and we will certainly be returning.

Room Tip: New Rooms are large and spacious and beautofully situated.

This hotel has a huge amount of character and is set in some very pleasant grounds. Whilst it is quiet and in a rural setting it is only 10 minutes from Derry/L'Derry city centre and a great base. We stayed in the hotel for a weekend and received a very warm welcome from the staff who were without exception, excellent. We were upgraded to a charming and very well appointed suite with a huge and very comfortable bad. A spacious bathroom lacked only dressing gowns, and the towels were perhaps not as luxurious as I would have expected when the rest of the facilities were taken into account. Given that we were upgraded I should hardly complain! The food and service were very good and I would certainly use this hotel again and thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting this part of Northern Ireland or looking for a romantic break.

Lovely period house on good grounds just a few miles out of Derry. Very friendly staff, lovely old room, lacked maybe a bit of the modern facilities but still very charming. The highlight is the wonderful restaurant, the best ive experiened in N. Ireland.

My husband and I visited Derry on May 2nd. This was our first trip to Derry and we stayed in Beech Hill hotel. We are aware that Bill and Hilary Clinton stay in this hotel on their visits to Ireland.
I have to say that I was disappointed with this hotel. I felt that our bedroom and in particular the bathroom was in need of refurbishment. The standard of breakfast was poor and in a sense impersonal

The Beech Hill hosted our daughter's wedding on 4th May. The civil ceremony was accommodated in the beautiful Skipton Hall and the reception was held in the stunning new marquee. The ever-smiling Patsy O'Kane runs a tight ship, paying great attention to every last detail, resulting in a most memorable and enjoyable day for our family and our guests. I cannot adequately express how welcoming and obliging the entire hotel staff were. Seamus in the lounge bar attended very well to our guests too, most of whom were residents for the weekend!! The food was absolutely amazing!! A variety of delicious canapes preceded a superb meal. This is food at its finest and would be a hard act to follow!! The beautiful hotel grounds were a wonderful backdrop to an amazing day and I know the newly weds were blown away by the whole event and could not have chosen a better venue!! Congratulations to Patsy, Seamus, chef Brian and all the staff and sincere thanks to you all for a truly wonderful experience!!
