Owner description: A museum explaining the political conflict that has shaped the city and the country: a must for those unfamiliar with Northern Ireland's war-torn past.

The museum in the old arsenal and lookout was a delightful place to visit, while away quite some time and to get some impressive views of Derry, Londonderry.

The lighting has to be kept low in some of the exhibits to avoid damage to the displays but in some parts of the museum it was difficult to see the display at all because it was so dark. The layout of the displays is excellent and allows the visitor to follow the history of Ireland from the very beginning. The staff is helpful and the toilets spotless.

Contained within Paddys folly this 1970's castle does not look fake. The museums displays are comprehensive and very balanced. Everybody was on everyone else's side basically. Really informative and ideal on a wet day. Just right at one corner of the genuinely 400 year old walls of Derry, Doire, Londonderry, Foyleside, the North West, the Maiden City.

A visit to Derry's Tower Museum is a must-see for those interested in interactive history. Added to which the guided tour through the museum is fun for all of the family even from the reception area being greeted by the friendly staff and being asked to sing a song "You are my Sunshine". Derry has so much history going back to the earliest times and at every step of the way through the interpretive museum there is something new to capture the imagination. We only saw the half of it in two hours and would definitely go back for more.
Note: No photography is allowed in the Tower museum
