Owner description: A museum explaining the political conflict that has shaped the city and the country: a must for those unfamiliar with Northern Ireland's war-torn past.

This was sold as a full history museum covering ancient and more recent historical events but with the majority of the modern history barely covered it was a real disappointment.

A lot missing and would much sooner go to the Museum of Free Derry

Interesting exhibits, well put together. The Armada exhibition was great, with the combination of history and how the wreck was discovered and recovered.

It was good value and very educational but we got talking to one of the security men and he was a wealth of knowledge about londonderry he told us about some things that we didn't see in the tour.

The blonde lady on reception was really helful and friendly. If she is the face welcoming tourists in 2013 you'll get plenty of happy visitors.

Although the view from the 5th Floor is worth a look, Floor 4 down to Floor 1 is almost entirely about the wreck of (agreed one of the largest) ships in King Philip of Spain's, Armada in Elizabethan times, having been wrecked off Ireland; the Armada's progression, scuffles with the English ships and its final failure after storms forced it into the North Sea and it's final shambles being driven North round Scotland before heading home for Spain - but not realising the width of Ireland being much wider than their maps showed.
Although interesting, what makes this museum really stand out is the Ground floor - the Story/History of Derry and it is so superbly presented - I will say no more, you really have to visit this remarkable Museum - even better is that entry is FREE !!
