“Grand cathedral.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

When you visit Derry it is a must that you see inside St. Columbs' cathedral within the famous Derry walls, it was the first cathedral to be built in the British isles after the reformation. Constructed between 1628/1633 it is a lovely building, inside and out. In the surrounding grounds there is a monument called the hereos mound where some of those who died during the Siege of Derry 1688/89 are said to be buried.

I loved this church. It is architecturally beautiful. Inside its walls, is a beautiful, spiritual place, where you can feel history and view remarkable artifacts.

Best piece of architecture in Derry. Easy to access location and still a working church so can go along to services if that's your thing

“St Columbs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

Lovely church that has a great history behind it. Built around 1625. viewing hours are a bit tricky but if you are staying near the walls you can find a time that it is open. I have seen it twice after hours which is great. No one rushes you out. Excellent location, many old regiment flags and stone carvings. The original locks and keys to the gates that were held against James during the siege are housed here. This is a working church so please be reverant. A nice little place to visit while in Derry.
