Lovely compact cathedral. There was an informative film about the cathedral and the history of the city. Guide provided lots of interesting information and showed us around the cathedral's museum.

This is the first Protestant Cathedral to be built after the reformation as far as I remember and it is glowing inside with beauty, not the dark foreboding space of older catherdrals I have been to. There is a lot of history in this place, from the siege and more recently the involvement of Frances Cecil Alexander who wrote so many wonderful hymns. You can go and see the real treasures of the cathedral and everything is very well documented for the visitor to read for themselves. Staff are always on hand to answer questions and give information. The churchyard is lovely, with many old memorials and a few dedicated to those involved in defending the city during the seige.
