It was a little difficult for us to find the entrance of Troy Hall (the signpost was a little confusing as far as I can remember) but once we got there we really loved it ! The garden and the house are fabulous and we had a very warm welcome from the owners. Everything in the house was refined: curtains, china, carpets,....I loved our bedroom and bathroom decoration. We had an excellent selection of teas and coffees on a tray, perfectly white bathrobes and slippers, a plentiful breakfast and good advice to find an evening meal in town ( Troy Hall is really well located and close to the centre but in a quiet area too) or for the visits of the following day. Our only regret was not to be able to stay longer.....

Troy Hall is a beautiful "Castle Style" house with lovely grounds where you can enjoy a nice glass of wine (bring your own but don't worry there is a wine shop 3 mins walk away if you don't have some in your travel kit). If you arrive late & don't want to go downtown the restaurant in the same plaza was excellent.(Ramada Inn) Ann & Michael will steer you right.
It's a 40 minute walk (long by my standards if it's raining) to downtown Derry but was only 3GBP
for a cab ride. In Canada I can't get a cab to my mailbox for that price! Parking in Derry is mostly Pay & Display so a cab or walking is even a better bargain. We had the Belmont room & it did not disappoint but a sneak peak at the other rooms showed all are top notch. Breakfast was excellent, nuff said. Take the walking tour of the city, about 90 very enjoyable minutes. Ann can give you the meeting spot (Europa Mall entrance?). Get detailed directions if you are not from the area as it is really a "Hidden" gem worth the effort to stay there.
.

Room Tip: Belmont but all are nice.

Hello gwhdrewry, Canada,
Thank you so much for your very kind review.
The restaurant across the street from Troy Hall often proves a hit with our guests as does the guided tour of our city walls. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and your visit to the city.
Best regards,
Ann and Michael.

We managed to book-in only recently as Troy Hall is hugely popular and having strayed there, one can see why. We arrived in Derry later than expected (due to Ryan Aer) and having booked a restaurant, rang ahead to explain and Ann & Michael were waiting for us at the door and from the outset were instantly warm, welcoming and very kind and immediately offered to help to make sure we didn’t miss our booking.. Once we saw the room it was clear to me as someone who’s been traveling for over 30 years all over the world for work and pleasure we’d arrived at a top rate venue, that easily rivals most 5* hotels. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, all items you need on hand, towels, dressing gowns etc. Little extras such as bottled water, extra facility for tea making all the nice, soft touches that show quality. The room and bed were so comfortable, didn’t want to get up the next day to go see the city. Breakfast was freshly cooked and again little extras that you have to stay there to see and enjoy. Spoke with other guests there who’d come from the US and had been back on a number of occasions and always stay at Troy Hall. I’ve booked in again for a return visit this week and really looking forward to staying there.Troy Hall has been lovingly restored by Michael and Ann is also very near the city centre 10-15 min ‘beautiful’ walk along the river Foyle...

Troy Hall is more like a boutique hotel than a B&B.

Twelve of us stayed for three nights, so we took over the whole place. We could not have been more graciously welcomed or more comfortable. Ann and Michael raised their family in this house after spending 18 months renovating it. The love they put into this home is obvious. Michael's skill as architect and Ann's as decorator shine through each room. Detail is the order of the day from the restored frieze work to the richly colored wallpaper. The heated towel racks in the bathroom assured us a warm shower wrap up. The cozy robes and comfortable slippers sitting on each of our beds beckoned us to relax, relax, relax. The in-room tea kettles and packages of cookies allowed for a before-bed treat, and the small refrigerator on the shared landing had room for at least a couple of bottles of wine. As I was leaving, Ann and Michael even let me take one of the books I had started reading from their bookshelves.

Troy Hall is about a 10-15 minute walk into Derry's walled part of the city. I can't imagine you could choose a more comfortable spot to stay for your visit.

This has to be the best place to stay in Derry. Luxurious, spacious rooms supplied with your every need. Resplendent from the outside and windows overlooking beautiful gardens and on to the River Foyle.

Ann and Michael have an obvious pride in what they do. Ann has a terrific eye for detail and Michael's architect's experience was not wasted in the sensitive refurbishment of the rooms. Both have a relaxed and easy manner which makes you feel welcome at once.

Full marks.
