“A brilliant place for people and dogs at the gate to an amazing forest”
Reviewed June 1, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Warmly welcomed by Julien, our short break with the dogs got off to a great start as we were shown around the lovely self-contained home. We were blessed with amazing weather but it would be the perfect stay no matter what as the cottage is cosy and spacious and its location at the entrance to the forest park means there would be things to do outside.
Will stay again.

A perfect little hide away cottage. So peaceful and an excellent view . Patricia and Julian have thought of every little detail to make the cottage a home as soon as you walk in. Most welcoming on arrival and were always friendly and pleasant.. Thank you for a lovely week.

“Absolutely magical!”

This was our second visit this year, after first discovering this absolute delight back in January.

You really couldn't ask for any more. The accomadation is spotless and perfect for our party that include a dog and a toddler. The views are breath taking, with the views over the lowlands and the sea with the sweeping beach of murlough nature reserve to the front and the mourne mountains Including the highest peak, Sleive Donard to the rear.

The range of fantastic walks literally straight from the doorstep is incredible, with the ulster way, mourne way, newcastle way and of course Tolleymore Forest, all within about 15 footsteps of the front door!
I walked up to the top of slieve donard and back ( around 7-8 miles) straight from the cottage which for me is a huge plus.

Its also worth pointing out that it is definitely worth visiting at different times in the year. Both our winter and summer visits were magical in different ways and it almost felt like 2 separate places, which we liked.

Newcastle is a cracking seaside town and there are countless forest parks and interesting places to visit in the area....the silent valley is a must.

To sum it up, a perfect get away for the whole family.

“Great stay & ideal location for walking”

Enjoyed or stay here and found patrica & Julian very helpful and friendly. Great location for walking with tullymore, mournes & Newcastle town literally on your doorstep with pathways going to each. Stayed with our dog who certainly enjoyed the hill beside us! Outside garden could be made more secure but there's a small enclosed field about 20ft from front door, although if your dogs an escape artist like ours will need supervision. Overall enjoyable.

Thanks very much for your great review, so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Mourne Heights. Thanks also for pointing out the need to enclose the garden securely to keep pets in, that's now a priority on our "to-do" list!

“Brilliant*** great location with wonderful views”
Reviewed August 30, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Clean and well equipped accomodation. Ideal setting with great views and fabulous walks from the doorstep. Newcastle, with its good variety of bars and restaurants is easily accessible. Not my first time here and have booked another return visit for later in the year. Love coming here, hosts are friendly and very helpful. Its pet friendly and the dog loves it... what more can be said, it's a great place to stay. A***
