I am a regular visitor. This is a magical place. Amazing beach, great walks through the beautiful nature reserve with unrivalled views of the Mourne mountains.

An awesome natural wonder, a wildlife haven. Saw it in brilliant sunshine and the backdrop of the Mournes was wonderful. Time out from the packed summer Newcastle crowds and a welcome feast for the eyes.

The nature reserve is between the road and the beach. There are lots of sand dunes, grassy hills and rabbits. The walk is about 20 mins to the beach but it is all paved with wooden walk ways. The beach is nice but can be crowded on hot days. the only problem would be the parking. There is a car park across the road or you can park on the hard shoulder. I think they may be improving the parking now though.

I have been going to Murlough with both my kids and my dog for years..there is simply NO better beach within 100 miles - I am not kidding! You can park on the main road and enjoy the walk through the sand dunes onto the beach..and what a beach it is! Crystal clear sand!! Brilliant!

came across this by accident on the most beautiful day of the year so far. Lovely peaceful day with beautiful beach. It's a bit of a walk from car park but is dog friendly as long as you keep it on a lead though not everyone headed this.
