We stayed for 12 nights in Kilbroney, we were camping and had one terrible week of rain. Unfortunately we were in the bottom field of the campsite which is NOT suitable for tents at all, the ground is far too soggy, we had mud running down the hill into our tent. We should have been put in the upper field the ground is a lot more stable there, we were very dissappointed with our pitch, but we stuck it out because it was such a beautiful place and more so we had paid in advance. I gave a rating of "very good" for this campsite, I do think it is a excellent site but where our pitch was let it down, the area is just gorgeous and the people are so friendly. The campsite itself is lovely, the grounds are immaculate, there is a lovely cafe on site, laundry which closes at 11pm, the showers were grand maybe they could update them a little, one of the showers in the ladies block wasn't working the entire time we were there and another flooded and was out of action for 3 days. There was water and electricity for every pitch. My girls loved the playground. Security in the campsite is fantastic and it was great when a couple of other campers were getting a bit loud after midnight were told to calm things down. There is no shop on site but Rostrevor is only a 5 min walk away and there is a couple of shops a butchers and a couple of takeaways here. The best thing about this place has to be the lovely forest walks, its just spectacular, beautiful views.
Kilbroney is a great place as a base too, its only one hour from Belfast and there are lovely beaches with in a half hour drive, and Newry is only 10 mins away.
We will definitely return to Kilbroney but we will book the top field the next time.

Just back from a short one night camping trip to Kilbroney - two adults and 3 teenagers in a 6 man tent.

We paid £13 for an unserviced tent pitch (it's £17 for a hook up and water). The woman who checked us in was very friendly.

There are two areas for unserviced tent pitches and you just pick a spot. We arrived quite late, around 5PM, and although there were quite a few tents there already we still found space.

Ground was dry, grassy and soft. Very slight slope where we were but nothing too bad.

The toilets and washing facilities are spotless and well maintained. There was a security hut up by the toilets and I think there were patrols, but after the long drive and a few beers I was asleep by 10PM anyway so I can't confirm.

Rostrevor is within walking distance if you wanted to go for a pint.

There's the park below the site with acres of space and a couple of playgrounds for younger children. Above the site there are a few trails, one of which (Cloughmore) we did on Sunday morning. The guy at reception was helpful and told us which paths to take.

Overall this is an excellent site and we'll definitely be back next year for a longer stay.

We have just got back from caravaning in Kilbroney Park and would recommend it to others. It is a very well looked after park. The toilet and shower block are clean and there are enough to cope with the numbers in the park. The cafe has a good menu and the food is fresh and tasty. Ramps have been lowered which is great. It has security everynight and the staff are very pleasant. The only downside is no Internet Access and poor TV reception.Otherwise, no complaints.

This has everything you could want, there is a huge park where kids can ride bikes and play games, playground area, coffee shop (cash only accepted). Easy forest trails through the fairy glen and hikes up to the coughmore stone. in summer there are also horse drawn carriage rides available. Go visit.
