“Fantastic venue so personal and intimate”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013 via mobile

I attended a wedding here at the weekend, while the bride had added her own special touches the mill was the perfect venue! Roaring open fire at the champagne reception, which was accompanied by a folk session (brides doing). The staff were very courteous and polite with nothing being a bother. Upstairs to the meal decorations were amazing again briefs own but the atmospheres was alive, very personal! The meal was delicious a beautiful warm bacon salad with a mouthwatering dressing followed by roast chicken on a bed of basil mash (spectacular) and if course warm chocolate brownies to finish. Not only cooked to perfection but served to perfection! I did not have the pleasure of staying overnight but I did here fantastic reports about the rooms from fellow guests! It will be a place where I will go back on a regular basis for lunch/ drinks at the fire and maybe a sneaky weekend.

My husband and I were married in the mill in August of last year and I'm embarrassed it has taken me so long to write this review as the whole experience there was absolutely PERFECT! It was a beautiful sunny day and the staff, who made me feel so special throughout the day, arranged to have the drinks reception outside so everyone could enjoy the weather, this is typical of the thoughtfulness and effort they go to make everything as magical as possible. The food was the best I have ever tasted at any wedding reception and all my guests were impressed with the high standard, I recommend the tomato and basil soup with Mediterranean stuffed chicken and ham for mains!! I decorated the place with the help of my bridesmaids but the staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble so made this part of the job much easier. The day ran so smoothly thanks to everyone at the mill with special mention to Mary, Noel, Joan and Maureen and I really can't think how it could have been any better!! If anyone is looking for a fairy tale wedding look no further, the food, the amazing building, the beautiful views, the rustic, comfortable rooms and of course the owners, all make for a perfect day!!

Room Tip: So many amazing places to get photos here but over at the ballydugan lake is great!!

Whilst the location, venue and rooms are lovely, the hospitality is absolutely pathetic. The staff serving the meal at a wedding we were at put our meal in front of us and disappeared, no one came to offer seconds or additional food. As the location is rural mobile phone reception is non existent. When woken by noisey partygoers, no one in the mill was contactable by the phone in the room. Even on the main premises in the middle of the night no-one could be found and door was locked. God forbid anyone required medical attention, there was no way it could be got ! Nice location, nice and clean but hospitality is the big let down !!!! Also if u go DON'T ORDER PAVLOVA , it's hard to digest even with tea !!

Well we have just returned home from attending a wedding and staying two nights here, where do I start? Staff are amazing and friendly, Mary took my 2 girls (4 and7 ) to let the chickens out and feed them, at this point they said this hotel is far better than any we have been to before and said who needs a swimming pool!
The wedding was great, the food so hot and tasty ! All the staff were great for. The function.
The rooms are great, all I would say its it did feel cooler on the first night but we arrived late at night.
Would I stay again, YES definatly !!! Thanks to you all, we now have a teddy named after Mary xxxxx

Room Tip: Ask for a bath if you would prefer one, as we booked a family room for us which had a shower but got...

We had our wedding in the Mill on the 28th April 2012 and it was the most perfect day and evening. Everything flowed and staff were excellent and couldn't be more helpful. We loved the setting and ambience of the Mill which could only be complemented by the excellent food which all the guests couldn't stop talking about. We had Celtic Storm dancing in the evening which give the wooden floorboards a rattling pleasing all the guests and staff. It's now coming up to our 1st Anniversary and my plan is to revisit for a nice romantic meal. We would just like to once again thank everyone at the Mill who made our day so special.

I stayed here with my husband on the night if a wedding in which we were both part of the bridal party.

Wedding- the night before we had to go to the venue and set up because they had not removed the decorations or even begun to set the room up for the wedding the next morning. Que a bride on the verge of breaking down as a result! Wedding was beautiful however and the food was excellent.

Accommodation: paid £100 for the room for one night which it definitely is not worth. Furniture was very old, bed was squeaky and uncomfortable and had pieces of metal falling off it. The ensuite looked like it was decorated in the 1950s and was in serious need of a good scrub. Bridal suite was a bit naff to be honest- lots of steep stairs to get to it and essentially it was nothing special.

Food: like I said food at the wedding was top notch. Breakfast the next morning was ok. I've made better fry's myself however which was a slight disappointment when I'd been dieting up until that day for the wedding.

I would not stay here again. Staff were excellent but rooms were not up to scratch,

We had our wedding in the mill on 29th December 2012 and couldn't have chosen a better spot. Everything was perfect from the moment we walked in to view the venue until the moment we had to reluctantly leave when it was all over.
All the staff were great fun and instantly put myself, the other half and my mother at ease (not an easy task) and were open to all suggestions and ideas we had. The chef was very attentive and the food on the day was fabulous! It was a brilliant way to end a year long diet :)
On the day Maureen was brilliant. She has a wonderful easy going nature which is contagious and put everyone in the mood for a great evening. The running of the day was completely smooth. we were entirely trusting that the staff would deliver and they did; to an extremely high standard. Lots of guests have commented on the high standard of service and some visiting from England were completely charmed when they popped in the day before for a drink and were greeted in an extremely friendly manner and made to feel completely welcome.
The venue itself is spectacular and was decorated beautifully saving me a lot of money and worry. The layout is wonderful with three different levels for each part of the day meaning you get to continue to surprise your guests.
If you are looking for a unique venue with natural charm, gorgeous food and a fabulous family atmosphere then this is the place for you.
Thank you all so much for such a brilliant day. Wish we could do it all again xx
