“Hidden treasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2012

I've driven past the sign for Kinbane Head many times and always ignored it, thinking that it wasn't worth the detour. How wrong I have been. This is a beautiful spot, no matter what the weather. I was here during one of our heaviest weeks of rain and it only served to make the many waterfalls that much more spectacular.

There is a car park and toilets available. The walk down to the shoreline and castle is steep and all steps. It’s a quick trot down, but a much slower crawl up! But it's worth it. Don't just look at the castle from the path, climb up the castle steps and into the gate house (which is really all that's left of the original castle). Walk out to the very edge for spectacular views of Rathlin and the Mull of Kintyre. You can even see people crossing the Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge. After taking in the view, walk back towards the castle and investigate the old fishery. This is a fantastic place for a picnic or just somewhere to go and think.

This was a real surprise. An easy walk from the Kinbane Farmhouse B&B.
