“Great atmosphere and great food and service”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

My wife treated me to a meal in the James Street South Brasserie this weekend.
I had never eaten in James Street before and we were both extremely impressed with the quality of the food the service, the value for money and best of all the vibrant atmosphere.
Great experience all round and I can't wait to go back :)

“Extremely Average”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

We went here recently to sample the pre-theatre menu which was advertised at £15.95 for two courses. The food was very nicely presented but it all tasted very ordinary (just fried) and definitely no exciting flavours. We were advised to order extra vegetables for the main course as they said there would not food in the main course so I felt that was a bit of a con, I would have preferred them to charge a little bit more and at least include a tiny bit of veg. The staff were very polite and friendly and the surroundings were nice but unless they make this restaurant a bit more exciting I won't be going back to try their a la carte menu.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, all feedback is greatly appreciated.

We apologise that you found your experience with us to be extremely average.

We feel that our set menu at £15.50 for two courses and £18.50 for three courses represents excellent value for money.

We endeavour to source local produce to support local people and often tends to be more expensive than comparable produce from other countries.

The set menu is also designed in so that diners are able to have three courses so extra sides are not included for this reason, however all dishes are normally garnished with vegetables, I apologise on this occasion if your meals did not.

Hopefully you will come back and try us gain soon and have a better experience.

Kindest Regards,

James Street South

“GREAT FOOD BUT AWFUL MUSIC!”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Modern restaurant close to the hotels in Great Victoria Street and the city centre. We arrived without booking on a Tuesday evening. Service was excellent and staff friendly and helpful regarding our questions. My partner had seafood and I ordered pork. The food was outstanding.
Our only gripe would be the music which was geared towards a younger diner whilst most clients in the establishment were in their 50's. A gentleman who was leaving commented that the food was delicious but the music 'cruel'. We left as soon as we had finished our main course without ordering desert or coffee and escaped to the more pleasant sounds of Belfast street life.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your meal with us and that the staff were attentive.

I can only apologise that the music was not to your taste. If you bring it to our attention we can change the playlist to something a little more subdued.

We hope to see you again soon.

“Almost perfect”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Excellent low-key service and great food. The waitress warned me the pudding I had ordered would take 15 minutes to cook (we were going to the theatre). Maybe more vegetables would be good with the main courses. But very good.

“great place”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Four of us went for a meal there on a saturday night ,we all said that the place looked great.
Its got great decor and a real relaxed ambience.
We went for the meun with the wine tasting as all of us were staying in belfast that night.
The food came out a little slow and also not a lot of it and the wine came to us way before the food.
We left there having to eat again later on that night hope they can work on there portions sizes as apart from that had a great night
