We had booked James St south for a hen day - this was our morning activity. We were greated warmly by Niall and his team and the venue was really suitable there was a lovely ambiance and it set the tone for the rest of the day - friendly, engaging & relaxed. Our class was cocktails & canapes and the staff embraced our 1950's theme with cocktails and canapes that tied in perfectly. The cocktail lesson was excellent and for those who wanted there was the opportunity to have a go and throw in an extra measure of Gin while you were there!! There were a few ladies who weren't taking part in the alchohol aspect and the team happily made some non-alcoholic cocktails up too.
The food was superb and the Hen was put through her paces in making the canapes for her chicks!! We dined on crab on toast, smoked salmon, duck canapes & risotto and there were other options for our vegetarian guests. The humour, service and experience were excellent and the staff joined in with our "Hen-do-oke" experience as well. Just when we though we couldn't get any better service as we left the heavens opened and Niall came out with a few umbrellas - we couldn't have the Hen's hair getting wet!!

We are delighted that you all enjoyed your demo in the Cookery School, I think the guys enjoyed it as much as you did! What a great send off for the bride to be, I hope the rest of the day was just as much fun!

Having been to the bar & grill next door, we were chance diners on the busiest day of the week - Saturday evening around 7pm. The Bar & Grill could not accommodate us, but they recommended the restaurant next door. The atmosphere is very chic and reminded me of Habitat furniture stores, with the plethora of all things white and the cool groovy jazz/funk music playing in the background.
The staff were pleasant, but we felt they were a bit stand-offish.
While the wine list was superb, the menu was more for the serious diner, looking for that experience of something different, so finding soemthing a little straightforward was a challenge. My wife was of the opinion that had we viewed the menu before entering, we would have been eating somewhere else. However, the food was nice, with a lot of effort spent on preparation, possibly at the cost of flavour and temperature. The cabbage with pancetta and the champ were absolutely delicious, as was the house Sauvignon Blanc.

We are glad that you liked our decor and atmosphere and I apologise if the staff seemed a little 'stand off-ish', which is very dissapointing for us as we are usually renouned for our friendly service.

We apologise that your experience with us fell short of the standards we strive to achieve.

I do hope that you will return and give us another try some time soon.

We had dinner at St James Street South because the concierge at the Hilton recommended it. The location is a bit hard to find if you don't know your way around downtown but the hunt was well worth it. The safood we ordered was excellent and service very good.
