Having just moved to Belfast, we had heard good things about Shu, so had to give it a try as a treat for our eldest son, after his transfer test. It was anything but a disappointment. Adults and children alike were very satisfied, and the lunch menu offered great value - we fed a family of 4 for about £50, which is only a little more than one might spend in Pizza Express, say, but with a far higher standard of food at Shu. Recommend the lunch menu as great value.

Having tried many of the other restaurants in Belfast we keep returning to Shu as it is simply the best. Chef Brian McCann and his team produce food which is consistently of the highest quality. He is totally committed to using the very best local produce and he has sourced a range of suppliers who are equally determined to provide the freshest and tastiest ingredients possible. The menu is always imaginative, each dish is a delightful combination of flavours and textures. After many visits we can truthfully say we have never been disappointed. The wine list has been chosen with similar care and the prices range to suit all pockets.
All guests are warmly welcomed by Julian and his team. They make a point of greeting and seating everyone with courtesy and a willingness to please. Service is always smooth and professional, the staff have a thorough knowledge of the menu and can answer any questions with confidence and will happily discuss any queries or special requests.
As you can see, we are total fans of Shu and would happily recommend it as a must go to place to eat in Belfast.

Great food and excellent service. The menu is varied. We had steak and seafood.

If you can get a seat upstairs, the ambiance is better.

It can be difficult to get a table at the weekend so book early.

We dined here some time last year. Myself, the Wife and our 1 year old. As soon as the staff saw we had a child with us for a 7.30 booking we were hidden away around the far corner, suspiciously away from the other diners. We had to ask for a high chair, which arrived, but it had no tray or any attachment to eat food from, and was too high to even consider pushing it towards the table. Any waiting staff completely looked past my son like he was not even there. We were not offered any childrens menu and when I asked I was told there isnt one at this time. So my son just had to have off our plates. I understand this restaurant wants to maybe appeal to more sophisticated diners (it certainly felt that way) But we phoned ahead and we were told that bringing our son would be no problem. We felt unwanted, out of place and we felt that we didnt earn enough to sit in this restaraunt. The food was fine but I cant look past the embarrasing service. Looking for a family restaraunt? keep walking further up the Lisburn Road.
