Superb and very grand hotel which lives up to it's billing as on of the country's best.
Unless you are extremely well to do (which I am not) a stay would be for a very special occasion and special it is.
Lavish decor and a service to boot with beautiful rooms and a second to none dining room.
Only minor gripe would be having to pay for the tea in the room.

Excellent hotel that is found in the Cathedral Quarter. Recently refurbished to a very high standard, with some lovely touches around the common rooms, although the Helmut Newton style images were a little dull after a while. The room IO had was clean comfy and welcoming. The shower was a joy, and all was quiet through the night. There is a great cocktail bar but the star of the show is the restaurant, which was beautiful. I believe this building was once a bank, so the evidence of their ill gotten gains is laid bare with vaulted ceilings, and wonderful stained glass. I had a very good breakfast in there.

Room Tip: Make sure to visit the restaurant.

One of the best hotels i have ever stayed in. The staff where so friendly and helpful. The rooms where fantastic especially when they found out it was our wedding anniversary, they upgraded us and had a bottle of champers put in our room. The over all stay was fantastic.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter"

Stayed at this hotel at end of October - was a treat for a special birthday for my sister. From the minute we walked through the door we were treated and served beyond expectations. Reception staff polite and welcoming. We were shown to our room and given very informative information on the facilities within the room. We ate in berts jazz bar in the evening service and food super and had breakfast in the hotel and again this was excellent. A visit to the hot tub on the roof is a must.

Room Tip: Our room was overlooking High Street which was bright. I think some of the rooms on the other side of the hotel may not be as bright.

We stayed in an Art Deco Room. After a mix up on checking in we were eventually shown to the right room. The room was large and luxurious with a stunning bathroom. We were on the 2nd floor where there was no view but maybe in higher floors there is.. All facilities were present in the room and I loved the vanity unit.
We had hoped to use the thermal suite etc but realised there was a charge of 15 pounds. This is totally unacceptable. The gym and hot tub on the 6th floor could be used but it did nt appeal especially as the area is quite rundown.
The hotels location is superb close to shops and restaurants.
We enjoyed a cocktail that night which was beautiful even though bar staff service and manners could be improved.
Overall I would recommend.
