Visited the gardens today and was utterly amazed by the beauty of the roses and layout of the park. It was a highlight of our visit to Belfast. The staff were very courteous and displayed an enviable knowledge of the flowers on display. It is a top family attraction with the added bonus of the playground and Japanese garden which would capture the imagination of any young child who visits. Congratulations to all involved for the most beautiful attraction, totally free and utterly mesmirizing!

First visit here and it was very good. A good display of roses in good weather made it a grand day out. We we lucky with parking and got close to the cafe, which supplied good snacks. Kids seemed to enjoy their various activities but the music was too loud {as usual} which was not necessary and impinged on the tranquility of the site.

I visited Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park last week with my 2 sisters and my niece. I had heard that this was a beautiful place so we were delighted to find that we were not disappointed. The rose gardens were simply magnificent in particular the Lady Diana Memorial Garden. The colours and smell of the roses and of course the beautiful weather we had on our visit made this one of the best places we have visited in N. Ireland. We spent so long taking in the beauty of the roses that we did not have time to explore the rest of the park. Although on our way out of the park we could see the lovely cut lawns and magnificent trees that obviously surround the other gardens i.e. Japanese, Camella trail and the walled garden. We most definitely will return to visit Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon park very soon. There was just one negative about our visit. We went to have something to eat in the Stables restaurant and we were disappointed with it. The food didn't look that tasty so we decided to have tea and pastry instead and at over £9 for 2cups of tea a coffee and 3 very small pastries, that were tasteless ,we felt that this was a rip off. It would not of course put me off visiting the park but I would not eat there again. The toilets as well whilst clean and tidy were insufficient for the amount of people visiting the restaurant.

Have been going here since our children were young and now bring our grandchild. Safe play area, lots of space to walk and run in the extensive park area. Sunday Band Concerts have always been a particular favourite ( when we get the weather!)

I agree mostly with other reviews. However, the gardens are no longer organic. When I was a lad our clothes would have been carpeted with ladybirds. Now the rose and other gardens are illtreated with pesticides, hence no lapwings. This is serious and needs to be brought to the attention of Belfast city council parks and gardens.
