Description: The Dock is an 'Honesty Box Cafe' - in which the coffee, fresh buns and hot soup are offered with no price tag - just faith in the goodness of people and trust that they will pay a fair price into the Honesty Box. That faith has kept the doors open and the shelves stocked for 18 months, and as far as we can ascertain we remain the only exclusively Honesty Box Cafe in the world. The cafe was furnished completely through donations of furniture, artwork, sculpture and shipyard memorabilia, creating a funky, eclectic atmosphere full of talking-points and conversation starters. Everyone involved is a volunteer - many of them local residents and students from the college who enjoy being part of building community life in their new home.

This is the nicest coffee spot in Belfast, without a doubt. Lovely views of the Lagan, the Titanic museum and the Odyssey complex. Best of all, it is run on charity and you pay what you like.

You will feel compelled to pay a fair price though, as the volunteers are all universally helpful and friendly. The coffee is good, there is a great selection of buns and the tea is wonderful. The use of local brands like Suki make it even easier to reccomend!

The only precaution I would give is; there is a school across the street. Around lunchtime, it can get fairly busy.

The Dock is, and has been since it first opened its doors, the hub and heartbeat at the centre of life in Titanic Quarter. As a worker in the area, I can't put into words just how much of a haven it has become to the workforce out there. It welcomes everyone from the SS Nomadic crew to the bankers to the Met lecturers and students.
As an honesty box cafe, it operates solely on income generated from generosity of spirit of its patrons, and the time given selflessly by the volunteers. There's nothing like coming in from the rain to the warmth and welcoming atmosphere of the Dock.

It's not just a simple tea and digestive biscuit affair- They have a wide range of teas, various blends of coffees, two soups at lunch time, scones, pastries and yummy tray bakes. And all it costs you is whatever you're able to give. They don't attach a price tag, just ask that a fair donation is made on the way out the door.

And all that is before mentioning the art gallery, the board games, books to read, the fantastic Prayer garden, and the whole place is filled with squishy arm chairs, worn comfy sofas and cosy nooks. It's ideal for a quiet peaceful lunch break to escape, and it's just as good with a group of friends on a chilly afternoon.

I love the Dock, and the ethos behind it, and I know that every single person that is welcomed through the doors feels the same. Much love to Chris and the volunteers, I'm spreading the word all the time about this wonderful place!

The Dock is a little gem in Titanic Quarter. From the Belfast Brew to the proper glass milk bottles, it's the loveliest, busiest, (but still able to find a quiet spot in) cafe in Belfast. With lovely art, furniture and bits and pieces from the days of the shipyards, there's a real sense of both the past and the future. There's always a welcoming face behind the counter, and where else in Belfast would you find such a mix of people, from the knitting group in one corner, to the students at the window, and the local workers eating their sandwiches whilst admiring the art and discussing whether that door really is from Thomas Andrews' house?
Cannot recommend it enough! Even when it looks like there's no seats left, there's always a little corner for you :)

The Dock is a fabulous place, provides a space for more than just eating and drinking... Tea, coffee, juice, buns, scones and homemade soup are all served up on an "honesty box" principle - you pay what you want in the box at the door.

The Dock is about much more than the food - it's about a community.

Great for kids as there's a toy corner with books; there are also plenty of jigsaws and board games, as well as guitars for those who can play them. In the corner is a quiet prayer space for reflection, reading or just sitting and finding some space.

The Dock has it's own reading group, knitting group and writing group, with new things appearing all the time. There's a pop-up market if you fancy buying some locally made souvenirs.

Ideal for cyclists, as you can chain up outside and come in for a full of tea and something to eat. Great stop-off if you're coming in from the Comber Greenway, Holywood, Lisburn or Newtownabbey. There's a shop nearby that does great sandwiches - The Dock let you bring in your own food if you want. Also has one of the cleanest toilets in Belfast!!

It's chock-full of Titanic bits and bobs, local history, and local artwork. The Dock is a tourist attraction in its own right! Definitely call in if you're heading to/from Titanic Belfast or SS Nomadic - or just spend a few hours and take time out!
