“Down to earth city centre bar”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

Have been here a couple of times and like it. There's a restaurant upstairs and a smallish bar on entry. The food is good, and the crowd are ordinary folk, who are either in for a bite to eat, or have a pint and watch the sports. It gets a lot of shoppers, because of it's proximity to the city centre, and a lot of passers-by. If you don't want anything too fancy, this is your place.

After shopping in Belfast we went into the fountain for a bite to eat.The bar downstairs was packed so we went upstairs and were seated very quickly. They had a good menu and well priced. We ordered our drinks and food and and even though it was busy we did not have long to wait.We both had the turkey ham and stuffing which was lovely>The waitress was excellent and will eat there again

“Dismal Experience”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

My wife and I dropped into the Fountain Tavern as we were absorbing and embracing Belfast on foot and decided to get a quick bite and pints in between our strides. The service was...uhm...well...ok I guess. Had to approach the bartender for the menu....then again to order our pints....then again to order our food....and each time he was busy talking with the customers at the bar. The atmosphere wasn't there for us. It wasn't a place that exude warmth or friendly hospitality.

Food was pretty sad. We quickly ate and flushed it down with our pints as the next table was starting to get loud and foul mouthed.

I would give this place a miss unless you are really, really hungry and thirsty....then again to each his own eh!
