Had a late dinner in this small friendly restaurant. The food was terrific, good product, excellent service. Couldn't believe that they stay open til 3 PM. Highly recommended.

I can't bear kebab in Ireland. The "meat" most kebab places pass off is a depressing conglomeration of fat and bits. Avesta is nothing like those at all. When you walk in, you'll first notice a difference- it's creative and pretty with the reclaimed counter and the lamp.

Avesta has probably has the best kebabs I've ever had on the island. Their secret must simply be the fresh, real ingredients. We tried them when they first opened and we've been back several times.

They make their own breads apparently, they are very fresh. The meat is fresh, not sure if it is local or not. The Persian veg salad and roasted veg kebabs are also really good.

One of the yummiest things we had the first time we went was a delicious pureed red pepper sauce. I think it's made with roasted red peppers. We went another time and we were disappointed to see they were serving a chili sauce that tasted like the kind you get out of a bottle. Next time, the bottled stuff was gone and they were charging for their home made sauce. I think it's worth the money, and if they have to charge a bit to keep the quality, they should!

I hope they can stick to their original plan, and not be swayed by a quick profit or pandering to compete on price with the likes of the kebab places closer into town. I think in the long term their strategy for quality food will win them lots of fans who will come from far to try their yummy dishes.

Tip: If Gormeh Sabzi is on the menu, get it! That is a Persian classic dish... herby, citrusy greens with tender lamb and beans- making it a substantial meal or a side dish to share.

It's great to see them serving these classic Persian dishes, and changing their small-batch specials. That will certainly keep us coming back to try more.

My dream is that they will expand and expand to a full restaurant someday with a full Persian menu. Persian is one of the best cuisines, with the use of herbs and fruits- it's something different and tasty.

Belfast's first Persian Restaurant, located conveniently on the Lisburn Road near Tates Avenue - not as stated here in Aldergrove!

When we entered the gentleman behind the counter was very helpful explaining all the dishes and showing us examples of everything on offer - various very appetizing "Meat Skewers" probably most analogous to Shish Kebabs... and lots of great extras such as Persian potato salad!

My girlfriend went for the Minced Lamb kebab dish on Taftoon bread (sort of like naan, bread but nicer and less doughy) with garlic sauce, i decided upon the rib eye kebab - Noon O Chenieh - with piri pirir sauce and a side order of chargrilled vegatable skewers. The meat was beautifully marinated and served with salad and sauce of your choice... Vegetables were great too.

The food was fantastic, and VERY reasonable - cheaper than any other real kebab house with a quality that is unmatched in any takeaway I've visited in Belfast. In fact this takeaway kebab was better than many I've eaten in some very expensive Indian restaurants!

Try this place, you will not be disappointed and it has plenty to offer... it's Belfast's best Kebab!
