We turned up at restaurant for our 7:30 booking only to be told there was no record of it, and could not get a table until 10:30 they offered us a table in an area they have outside, this is feb and was about -2degrees we took them up on the offer of table in their outdoor area as there was little chance of getting in anywhere else on a sat night, the meal was excellent and worth the frostbitten extremities, the staff were not very attentive as we were stuck out side and had to keep going in to get them to clear plates away and order drinks. We heard that there were seven other parties which turned up for booking on the night who were also not recorded, and had to be turned away. The food is excellent but they need to get their act together in they way they handle and record bookings not very professional at all.

We had a booth booked for a party of 6 for the last sitting and were told to arrive for 9.15. We were eventually shown to our table at 10.15, as apparently the people who were occupying our table had been asked to vacate the table 5 times. The front of house / manager didn't once apologise each time we enquired about the table, and her attitude towards paying customers was unacceptable. As we were about to be finally seated, she told us to give the vacating party a dirty look, and it transpired they hadn't been asked to vacate the table until 5 minutes previously! The other party then started complaining to her about her attitude, and she told us it wasn't appropriate us speakng to each other. To be fair, she did send cocktails and a bottle of wine to our table. The food was lovely and our waitress was very attentive, and we were given complimentary vegetables and fruit. The evening had been spoilt though, and we regretted waiting an hour instead of moving to the Italian restaurant next door, who had a table to accommodate our party. The experience was not what we expected from the Zen goup - we won't be back to this restaurant. There are so many other good restaurants in Belfast who have really upped their game in order to survive in difficult times - House of Zen, take note!

Nice place and the food was good but just not worth the prices they charge. Also, the service was quite slow and the staff didn't seem very welcoming. Only went once.

We visited here in a party of seven on a Saturday night. They do three sittings - 5pm, 7pm and 9pm so we went with the 9pm option to make sure we weren't rushed off the table. From the moment we arrived until much much later we were looked after really well and the food was excellent. We were seated in one of the booths which was perfect for seven people - eight would definitely not fit. Everyone in our group raved about the food. I had the chicken satay which was a very generous portion for £4.80 and it had a nice kick to it. To follow I had the lamb shank cooked in a clay pot and it was delicious. There were set menu options for three courses which basically gave you your desert free. For those who didn't want the desert our waitress offered a liqueur coffee. The rest of my group chose from these set menus and some had the House of Zen signature dish (fillet steak...) and raved about it. Again, it was a very generous portion. I had read the reviews and thought this place was going to be slightly pricy but this simply wasn't the case; even the wine list was reasonable. I am really looking forward to another visit and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.
