It was so quiet on Good Friday evening that we were able to get a table for two immediately without a booking. Only 4 or 5 tables were occupied.
Lovely young Hannah, our waitress, was a credit to the restaurant team with her superb customer service skills. She was well trained and able to describe various items on the menu. She checked that we were happy with our food and was attentive without being bothersome.
As we chatted on leaving, we discovered that she was Deputy Head Girl at her school. What a little treasure!
The crab roll starter was extremely delicate, but very tasty in a chilli sauce with pickled cucumber and on a bed of baby leaves. My fiance described his main course Hake dish with chorizo and seafood broth as one of the best pieces of fish he had ever eaten. My Duck breast with pomme anna and cabbage was truly mouth watering. Our side dish of large grilled mushrooms was cooked to perfection. Well done the chef! I finished off with chocolate tart and raspberry sorbet, but I think I would have preferred a sweeter scoop of ice cream. All for £57 with 2 coffees and 2 glasses of wine, which I thought was good value.
This was only our 3rd visit to this restaurant, but we will definitely be returning for the new lobster night which was being advertised for every Thursday in April.
Thanks for a lovely evening!
