Description: Contemporary Indian cuisine, located on bank street in the heart of Belfast City centre. At Safa we offer authentic Indian recipes and traditional style of cooking. Ali takes great pride in cooking to order and grinding all his own spices so it really is the closest to Indian home cooking you can get. We also have a full bar and incredible wine list.

As a previous resident of Birmingham I lived on curries and have been in search of a really good curry experience in Belfast.

I think my search is over.

Styled like a bistro, Safa is a bit different to the usual flocked wallpaper and Indian background music.

Beautiful food. Well presented in pleasant, modern surroundings.

The Safa platter starter is highly recommended.

Safa is in an inauspicious corner above the famous Kellys Cellars. Myself and friends were on a night out and needed a bite to eat.
The staff accomodated us despite being very busy. They were friendly and warm and attention to detail was excellent.
The food came clearly all freshly made and of a very high standard. My vegetable passanda was full of veggies and the sauce not sickly as in other restaurants I have been to. All dishes come with rice - unlike many Indian restaurants.
We did not have deserts but what I saw on other tables sure did tempt. A lovely restaurant and a welcome addition to a busy night time area.

Long weekend in Belfast & had a real fancy for Indian food partly prompted by the Indian Festival in the City at the weekend. Not disappointed by the delicious and filling chicken Biryani. Only complaint would be the poppadoms were not on the extras menu and we didn't know the price until the bill came. Bit misleading. However the staff were very polite and attentive. Would go again when next visiting Belfast.

Handily located above the famous bar, Kelly's Cellars, this restaurant provides decent helpings of excellent food at good prices. Well worth a visit either for the bargain lunchtime menu or the full a la carte in the evening.

out in town for a friends birthday saturday afternoon we visited safa with a party of 9, even though we hadn't booked a table it was still early enough just to walk in, the first person that greeted us seemed overwhelmed and slightly put off by our appearance (alternative clothing, piercings etc.) even though we were kind and curtious throughout our visit we cannot say the same for what seemed to be the manager / supervisor, upon sitting down at the table we lit the candles as we felt the atmosphere of the room was lacking severely especially with the dulcid tones of what sounded like indian lounge music. the person serving us remarked very cheekily not to light the candles which we thought was completely out of hand, one of our guest was celebrating there birthday and we asked if anyone special could be done, we were met with a firm, harsh "NO". during our meal no poppodoms were put out on the table which in my opinion is a fatal flaw for ANY indian, i have been to many others where the poppodoms are on the table before your drinks. the food itself was faultless, the only complaint i would have about the food was portion sizes, they seem to fluxuate from person to person. plus any indian i have been to will often go out of there way to look after large parties spending hundreds of pounds, not safa, they seemed eager to get us out, wouldnt go back if you paid me
