Done the tour yesterday (24th feb) and couldnt wait to write this review. Booked the tour for the day we were checking out of our hotel and coudnt have ended our weekend in Belfast any better. We were picked up at the hotel by our driver Pat McArdle. From the minute we got in the taxi we knew we had "saved the best for last". Pat explained what the tour entailed and we set off. We wanted an in-depth insight to the troubles and we werent let down. Pats knowledge was 1st hand having lived in the area during the troubles. Saw the murals and memorials on both the falls road and the shankill and it was really moving to be on the sites where some of the atrocities took place. Only ever saw it on tv before. Tour took just over 1.5 hours and was the best value ever. If you get the chance ask for Pat McArdle. A genuine bloke whos hopes for the future are that the next generaton grow up without the hatred that went before. Thanks again Pat. ps get that hair cut !!!

Myself and 2 friends had seen this taxi tour advertised in our hotel and thought it looked quirky and a bit of fun so we decided to go ahead and book. We were met by our guide, Paul and we chatted about some of the places we would like to visit and he seemed to get a good grasp of our interests. We were aware that the tour would last around 90 minutes, but to be honest, approx 3 hours later our tour finished (we were dropped off wherever we wanted). Without any doubt, this was a most excellent tour and we have done nothing but rave about it since we stepped out of the taxi and even now when we have returned home! Paul was funny and easy to talk to and he was obviously a well informed historian. He was a brilliant storyteller, knew historical information, was well aware of the history of this city as well as his own lived experiences of growing up in Northern Ireland and continuing to live here. We felt that his account of the history, both the distant and not so distant past, was well balanced and fair. We were able to stop off at a variety of places, with as many photo opportunities as our camera memory would allow and Paul was more than happy to chat to us about each place and we were very much a captivated audience. We thought the cost was more than acceptable (£30 min/£10 each) and would have been willing to pay more for such an intimate tour of a beautiful, and friendly, city trying to change. Everyone visiting Belfast should do this tour, a brilliant opportunity not to be missed!

Paddy Kane took my friend around in his black cab. The tour costs 30quid for 3, we didn't have a 3rd person and the company offered to try and find us a 3rd which we appreciated, though didn't end up taking and simply split the cost of 30 between 2, which was still remarkable. This was my first time to Belfast and this tour was a very necessary first stop. Paddy was so informative and engaging whilst recounting the history of The Troubles. It was fascinating to hear it from a local who lived through it and seeing the murals by the roadside. Our driver was Catholic, though you may randomly get a Catholic or Protestant driver and we were tempted to go again to get that other perspective. Belfast is a city trying to change, but as a visitor, I feel you should also respect it's very recent past.

We took a black cab tour with Paddy at the weekend. From start to finish, Paddy was an A1 tour guide! His local knowledge and understanding of Belfast was much more than that of a tour guide, It was obvious that he lived and breathed this stuff, he wasn't just reciting this. The service was top class, we called Joe and within 10 mins Paddy had us in the back of his cab. He was friendly, chatty and well up for a laugh. The stories were amazing and its hard to describe the detail he went into. Please do this tour if you are in Belfast. It's important for an citizen, especially and Irish one to understand the history of Belfast. The tour took about 2 hours and afterwards Paddy dropped us back to where we wanted to go. Brilliant from start to finish!
