We stayed here for my sisters wedding, and except for that fact her wedding was in this hotel I would have cancelled this excuse for a hotel! Where do I even start?!
We paid extra for a executive double, which we discovered when others arrived this was the same as a standard family room? We expected more sq foot, nicer furnishings (they CLEARLY have a different standard of room listed as an executive room on their website, ours was basic) and all we actually got for our extra £20pn was an extra single we did not need!! Others who came into our room said the same, theirs was bigger and CLEANER and they only paid the standard rate! totally ripped off! Room was dirty as you can see in pictures, definitely not "executive" standard!
A number of mishaps happened courtesy of this hotel on my sisters special day, apparently the wedding coordinator was on leave so it felt like the rest of the staff just didn't give a damn. She paid for tea coffee and shortbread for guests, we emerged from the ceremony to find a small buffet outside, and a relative grabbed a sandwich. Apparently the buffet outside our door was not for us, ours was on a completely different floor, and they actually made her put BACK the sandwich she had in her hand for someone else to eat! Disgusting! We got down to find our "shortbread" was a small dinner plate of custard creams to do 60+ people! needless to say, not many got near them. They messed up her pre-planned seating arrangements, because they just decided to place people where they wanted and NOT as had been agreed.
During the large break with our 15 custard creams among 60 people, people began to get hungry, so an uncle ordered 3 portions of chips, costing £7.50 for his teenage children. He recieved a small oval shaped side dish of chips, and was told that was ALL THREE PORTIONS. He was so enraged he took a picture to send through as an official complaint. Many of the guests jumped in their cars and headed to KFC!
During the main course, the food was far below the standard I have had before. Desert was a pathetic bowl of profiteroles, with watery chocolate sauce and half a strawberry fired on top (see pictures). thank god for the wedding cake! Then they served us tea and coffee, without spoons or milk! seeing people stir their coffee with the end of a fork was a disgrace! I was so angry about the way our family and friends had been served rubbish, I told the reception I would NOT be paying them £16 for breakfast in the morning, for something I could get across in centra for £2.
My experience of this hotel is so poor, I will not be back. An expensive room rate for an "executive" but actually standard double, not including breakfast, £95 per night. I felt robbed when leaving, actually I am planning a wedding of my own and now I know where to avoid! Manager never showed his face once, other staff were ignorant, like we were an inconvenience. We stayed in the crescent townhouse for her hen do (b&b, main course and glass of wine, plus clean room only £89) and if I'd known how bad this place was, I would have booked in there again.
