“An excellent stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

The "Wellie" is an excellent convention hotel. It has many function rooms of varying sizes.

It's not the newest if hotels and shows signs of wear and tear but everything appeared to be clean.

The bedroom and bathroom were well appointed and clean. We were on the ground floor behind reception. There was a little bit of traffic noise but not much. We weren't comfortable leaving our window open as the security latch didn't seem that great. Other than that the room was great.

The hotel is a little out of the centre of town but the bus only takes 5 mins and a day pass can be bought under £4. It's also well situated for the University and surrounded by lots of restaurants.

Breakfast had the option of an Irish cooked breakfast, cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, various fruit juices, tea and coffee. In other words there was a lot to choose from!

We stayed Thurs-Monday. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and attentive.

Can't wait to return next year.

We had a really enjoyable stay at "The Wellie" for TitanCon 2013 - the rooms were neat and clean, the beds were comfortable. There was an issue with the plumbing (the hotel are aware and trying to sort it out) which meant that the shower wasn't the best and it was difficult to regulate the temperature, but that was the only down side.
The food is mouthwatering and the coffee is simply awesome!!!
It's the staff and the customer service that really make this hotel. Nothing is too much trouble. The chef even re-opened the kitchen on Saturday evening so that eight of us could have dinner.
Good hotel for a conference or convention!

Had a very enjoyable stay from 6th till the 9th September. Staff very courteous and attentive at all times. Room was clean and spacious however there was an issue with the toilet flushing mechanism on Sunday which was simply left for me to discover due to the cistern top being left on the toilet seat. No view from the window either but that's not a factor. On site food was very good and priced well drinks were very reasonable apart from a noticeable price change between the downstairs and upstairs bars on the Saturday night. Breakfast was excellent.... superb locally sourced produce and plenty of it. Will definitely stay again.

We stayed here for 3 nights for a conference and i was horrified. Carpet throughout ( even on the floor of the entrance) was thread bare and stained. Walls very crudely patched. No body lotion, no conditioner, no mouth wash, no emery boards. At 89 pounds a night per couple, it was exorbitant. Breakfast every day is the same. No porridge, food warm and somewhat greasy but never hot. Wi-FI is complicated. The receptionist had to personally log in each of our devices which took some time. She was very helpful but we had to register every day with a different 3word login. Hotel is close to QUB and lots of really good restaurants, on bus route into the city but I will never stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't even think about it!

I have stayed at the hotel many times for short and long trips and fin it very accommodating for business. Parking is easy and you can walk to many places for food. Service is above average and the room prices are good if you book in advance.

I had the not so pleasant occasion of having to spend time at the Wellington Park Hotel in Belfast. I remember this from when I was a professional singer and it as excellent even during a War Footing.
I was there as part of a Parkinson's Meeting and had travelled from the Channel Islands. There was scant information that one could be dropped off at the door of the Hotel as the entrance was some way from the Barriers on the main road. The Taxi driver did not have automatic access either.
There was no information as to where the Conference/Meeting was taking place, displayed in the Hotel Lobby/Reception area.
The reception desk was all one height and the person staffing the desk was busy on the telephone, so I waited patiently until he was finished. Instead of speaking with me when finished, he answered the phone again. (Not a good start).
That said the man was courteous enough and pointed me to where the the Parkinson's Group was meeting.
The room was tiny and I am a Wheelchair-User and most of the delegates were either elderly or living with Parkinson's so their mobility was impaired.
This is the Feedback from the group -
...' • The venue was not good. The room was too small for moving around in comfort. The general accessibility of the hotel was not good. Parking was not good at the hotel and it wasn’t clear if it was free.
• The hotel staff were unhelpful – Aindre had great difficulties with the disabled access loo and had to use what they called an accessible bedroom. Even a simple request for a different chair at lunch was met with a ‘no’ – we just sorted it ourselves!'...
As I travel quite a good deal, would hope for better than 'fair' Customer Service and not just because I am a Wheelchair-User.
I do hope the Hotel Owner/s see this review and work to improve the Customer Experience in these difficult trading times.

I never did find out if the Toilet was occupied or not and would make it clear that unless you have actual Designated and Approved Accessible Toilets for Wheelchair-Users you should not be conveying people to Inaccessible ones as a poor second.
I am happy should you wish to contact me in this regard. Aindre Reece-Sheerin

Attended a conference here in Parkinson's with people with a disability. Staff were dismissive, unhelpful and rude when asked for help. We were given tea and scones at conference which were inedible. At lunch the sandwiches left a lot to be desired, made on cheap bread. Poor parking facilities. This place is good for one thing only- formals for QUB university !
