“Lovely piece of Victoriana”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

Quaint and quirky "giant greenhouse" with elevated pathway around central mass of interesting tropical vegetation and fish ponds. Very tranquil and calming. Magnificent piece of Victoriana too. Could do with a bit of TLC from "the powers that be"- it would be a shame to see it deteriorate further. With jammy dodgers priced at a pound each in the adjacent museum surely there is a bit of spare change left for a splash of paint and a few bits of glass to fix the roof?

“In Botanic Gardens”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

This tropical ravine house is situated in the beautiful Botanic Gardens, beside the entrance to the Ulster Museum. It holds many wonderful tropical plants. The atmosphere inside is humid and warm.

“Great if you're in the area.”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

Great place to pop into if you're in Botanic Gardens. Quiet and let's face it...likely to be warmer than outside.

“Bug-eating plants!”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Whenever I'm around Botanic Park, or the museum, I do like to take a quick turn around the Tropical Ravine. The outside looks like a giant greenhouse. Inside you'll find a balcony walkway looking down upon a variety of weird and wonderful plants. There are big orange fish in murky pools. My favourites are the pitcher plants; they look like jugs and live by trapping and digesting flies. Fantastic things to see.
Opens at 10am, closing time varies seasonally.

“A natural beauty”

It's green and inside so always available and has kind of a 50's feel to it. Not that I would know-just sayin
