Owner description: The Grand Opera House in Belfast is Northern Ireland's premier theatre, presenting a range of drama, dance, opera, comedy, musicals, pantomime, family and West End shows. Established in 1895, the theatre boasts the majestic Victorian main auditorium designed by renowned architect Frank Matcham. Extended in 2006, the original building has been joined by a striking addition to Belfast's skyline, The Baby Grand. The initiate studio is home to a smaller performance space with 100 seats. Northern Ireland's premier theatre delivers an outstanding programme of entertainment, playing host to some of the greatest names in theatre and music. The theatre boasts a wide array of popular shows; everything from opera and drama to pantomime, comedy and musicals. The Grand Opera House offers unrivalled corporate hospitality with tailored events packages and is the perfect venue for meetings, special events and conferences of all sizes. The historical theatre is one of the most unique conference venues in Belfast, catering for seminars, conferences, meetings and weddings for up to 130 people in the Baby Grand Studio. The Main Auditorium holds up to 1060 people and smaller meeting rooms are also available. The theatre bars stock a range of drinks including beer, wine and spirits, in addition to tea and coffee.

The organisation surrounding performance here is very good, this is a well run venue. Whether buying drinks, ordering for intermission, entering, leaving, all was so simple and ran so smoothly. The staff are friendly, pleasant, accommodating and helpful. The seating is comfortable and the view from the stalls unhindered. We enjoyed a performance of "9 to 5", the Dolly Parton musical, normally not my cup of tea but extremely well performed and quite enjoyable. The venue management is to be commended for ensuring a professional approach.

I visited the Grand Opera House with a friend, who is from Belfast, to attend a performance of the ballet, 'Giselle'. Aside from a fantastic performance by the Birmingham Royal Ballet, I was impressed by the place itself. The entrance, food area and toilet facilities are all very modern and to a high standard, but the building remains historic and impressive at the same time. I would recommend attending a performance there in order to appreciate the atmosphere.

A great meal at the theatre itself, good shows, and the table is kept for you during the interval for a pre booked drink or desert, what more could you want!!

Situated at downtown Belfast and right next to Hotel Europa.

Rebuilt after it had been destroyed during the "Terrible"times. Now has a modernistic building extension. Famous people had performed here including Charlie Chaplin. Nice place to have dinner and a show.
