“Neolithic Belfast”
Reviewed March 5, 2012

Some think that Belfast started in 1603. It didn't. This cirucluar earthwork and dolmen, represent a massive shift in the habits of humans. From being roaming people of the coast and rivers, they started to move to the uplands, and started to clear trees and graze cattle, and unfortunately gained a new sense of land ownership. These ideas of territory would have obvious consequences regarding conflict for the rest of human history. The walk from Shaw's Bridge, along the Minnowburn is the best way to get to the Giant's Ring. It's a lovely walk that would take about an hour there and an hour back, at a nice pleasant pace.

“Mystical”

Ten minutes out of the city yet thousands of years away. Stand by the dolmen on your own on a wet and windy winters day for a unique experience.
