I have walked up cavehill a number of times, and i must say that each time it gets easier! There are a number of paths to take - generally i would park at the belfast castle path and walk from there - i also run this path from here to the top and back (approx 3 miles) and find it quite tough, but very rewarding at the top of the mountain, with superb views accross belfast lough, and on a clear day to the mournes, and the other way to slemish and the ballyclare/ballymena hills. The paths are generally quite well kept and signposted well enough so that users do not get lost. The only issue can be overgrown grass/trees at times, which narrow some paths near the top of the cavehill, but this aside, a fantastic walk which is challenging, but also very rewarding!
