“More Than Happy.”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I was in Belfast for the recent Bruce Springsteen gig at The Kings Hall Complex. Myself and 2 friends from Leeds flew in very early on the day before the gig and stayed 2 nights. The reception desk were excellent dealing with our early arrival. This was complicated further by the fact more friends were arriving the next morning which resulted in rooms and sleeping plans changing again. The lady on reception was top class. She looked into the various bookings and sorted what sounded to us a complicated issue with a smile and with efficiency and made sure we all were all clear which rooms we were in and with whom for the 2 nights. This before breakfast on a Friday morning. We could check in leave our bags and head out into Belfast. A lot of our time was spent out and about and the day of the gig was mostly spent around the venue experiencing the special atmosphere of a Bruce gig but our rooms were spotless, comfortable and spacious. As value for money it was top class. The breakfast which was included offered lots of choice and plenty of it to start your day. All tasty and well prepared. The bar also offered plenty of choice for both drinks and food and all reasonably priced. We did not sample the restaurant in the evening. Every member of staff we encountered from reception, bar, restaurant and cleaning were friendly and had a quick word for us. The location to the venue and Belfast was just right with buses and trains on the doorstep plus a nice pub over the road for pre and post gig refreshment. If I return to Belfast I would not hesitate to use this hotel. I usually like to treat my self to 5* places but this booking was done by one of the travelling party and I'm glad that was so. All 8 who checked out on the Sunday morning had nothing but good words for the staff and service received.

Place was a disgrace. Went to stay in it to review for r weddng. Room was the honeymoon suit we slept in two single beds pushed together. The door handles were broken. We ordered room service which never came. The kettle in room was filthy.i would not recommend this to anyone. Food was disgusting.

There is a comprehensive bar style menu with most dishes around the £10 mark. Portions are huge, so you don't need a starter. I had the chicken curry with half and half. Classic Belfast I think - half rice and half chips. The service is very prompt and pleasant. A pint of beer is £3.65, but you can get lounge service, so that is not too bad.

Used this hotel to attend the Bruce Springsteen concert at the weekend. A good location in that it's just 5 mins in a taxi to Kings Hall. Hotel is basic but fine. We had a basic clean double room. We had a few drinks at the bar and breakfast in the morning. For breakfast you can help yourself to cereal, juice, etc and order a cooked breakfast with tea/coffee from the waiter. Service was good.

Booked through booking.com as wedding anniversary treat. When we arrived we were given a free room upgrade. Room was massive with a massive bed and balcony! :) well pleased. The receptionist informed us that we had to pay £100 room deposit which we knew nothing about, she said I was sent an email which I wasn't. Very frustrating when you don't expect it as the room itself was only £55 for bed and breakfast we thought this was really good value!
We ate bar food and it was very nice. They have picnic tables in an enclosed garden area and as the weather was nice it was enjoyable to sit there and have our dinner with drinks. We sat in the hotel bar where there was a wee 2 piece band playing who were very good entertainment. The huge bed was very comfy and we slept well, there's a main road that runs by the hotel but in our room we could not hear traffic noise.
Breakfast is served upto 10am....we waited to be shown to our seat, which we Weren't and ended up just finding a table ourselves, the room wasn't very big so it wasn't very busy. There seemed to be 3 members of staff on. We waited from 9.15am to 9.45am to even be asked what we wanted for breakfast. In the end my husband had to go and ask someone. It seemed we were invisible as everyone else who was seated after us was attended to straight away. And some even were served there brekafast before us. When my husband asked again for the second time for a glass of water it seemed like we were bothering one of the male waiters in particular. In the end the breakfast was very poor. Undercooked and greasy. The orange juice was warm and there was no cranberry juice and it wasn't refilled the whole time we were there.
All in all the Beechlawn hotel is a lovely wee hotel, and I would more than likey come again, maybe the breakfast staff were just having a bad day.
