It is very rare to stay somewhere and not be able to fault anything about your stay. However, the Tara Lodge really was one of those places. Spotlessly clean, decorated without any areas of neglect, good location with a 10 minute walk to the city and a 5 minute stroll to Queens University.

The staff were first class, just friendly enough without being over the top, the room was lovely, with great touches like the coffee machine and the breakfast was delicious and fresh. I really couldn't fault it in any way.

Probably one of the best places that I have stayed for a long time.

We were only in Ireland for a day and half, as we wanted to visit the Giant’s Causeway. The Tara Lodge was the perfect location between Dublin and Northern Ireland. We arrived around 12 pm and fortunately, our room was ready. The receptionist was kind, as she checked the hours of operation of the causeway. She even gave us tips on quick places to eat, so that we could get right on the road. There was limited parking on the premises, but there was plenty of parking on the street. We got back from the “Giant’s Causeway” by 6pm and the lot was full, so we parked right in front of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and advised us that we can’t come to Belfast without stopping at the Crown bar (a must for a drink, but make sure to avoid the food). The Tara Lodge location was also good, as we were steps away from numerous restaurants, a couple of mini-marts, and about 20 minutes from the city centre. The room was spacious and had all the necessary amenities (even an iron). Breakfast was included in the room rate, and it was very good.

Room Tip: Room 21 is on the first floor, and overlooks the parking lot

A small, intimate hotel with the focus upon friendly and helpful service, and good value. Nothing is too much for the staff. Room was spacey with a HUGE bed. Good location too, 5 mins walk from Ulster Museum, 10 mins from City Hall. Will stay there again.

We booked Tara Lodge based on the many positive reviews and were not disappointed. Nice, clean rooms, very friendly reception, nice breakfast but with somewhat limited choice. So not quite what we've expected based on the many praises. However, this is rather a high-end B&B than a hotel e.g. no bar or restaurant. Nothing wrong about that though. Location is excellent with many restaurants close by and the city easily within walking distance. But then you need to get out for drinks and food.

Dear Murgman

Thanks for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay. I am so delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. Both our housekeeping and reception teams are so pleased that you recognised the clean rooms and friendly reception. The housekeepers work very hard to ensure the rooms are sparkling and the receptionists strive to provide excellent customer service – they seem to have hit the mark this time round.

I’m just sorry we didn’t ‘wow’ you with our breakfast. In addition to fresh cut fruit, cereals, yoghurts, fruit juices, pastries, local breads and croissants we offer a selection of seven hot breakfasts in addition to our three types of porridge. Our chef is also very flexible when it comes to a la carte breakfast choices.

Tara Lodge is not graded as a hotel, rather it is a 4 star guest accommodation - like a hotel without a bar or restaurant! I agree that our location is excellent. We’re located just one minutes’ walk from the bustling Botanic Ave where all our guests can choose from a large range of restaurants – from sushi to steak and pizza to poppadoms. There are also many bars just minutes’ walk from Tara Lodge for our guests to enjoy. Once you’ve enjoyed your evening you can come back to the quiet atmosphere of Tara Lodge to relax and enjoy a good night’s sleep.

Thanks again for reviewing your stay – we love to get feedback from our guests.

Kind Regards

I arrived at just after 9am due to my flights and was able to check in with very helpful receptionist! Location was just what was required fifteen minute walk outside of he centre and was easy to find even late at night. Rooms were comfortable and breakfast was excellent.

We stayed here for two nights - a Saturday and Sunday. The first night was very hot and when we opened the windows all we could hear was trains, cars racing up the road and very noisy people. Reception kindly provided us with a fan so we could at least close the windows but there were two lads under our window at 5.00am drinking. We were moved to the front of the hotel only to find that we had planes this time!!!! To be fair, it was a heatwave. The hotel was excellent, very comfortable rooms and lovely breakfast. The reception staff were extremely efficient and nice and despite the noise I would highly recommend it in normal weather conditions.
