Stayed for a two night break. Staff are excellent, bedrooms are very comfortable and clean. Breakfast - cooked to ordered (good selection - pancakes, full Irish, porridge, boiled eggs etc). Good selection of bars and restaurants (2-3 minutes walk). City centre can be accessed by bus (5 - 8 minutes) or a nice 15 min walk.

Have stayed before and will return in the future.

An excellent place to stay , the room was lovely, very nice decor .The bed was very comfortable as was the pillows and nice and warm being winter. The staff were customer orientated , nothing too much trouble. We were only there for one night , passing through doing a self drive of Ireland. It was just about my favourite place to stay ,the castle stay knocked you off your perch !It was tucked away , luckily we had GPS in the car .Looked like some kind of university area . It took very little time to walk down to the Bars and pubs , many restaurants along the way . We ate at a chinese place less that 10 mins away and had an excellent meal . Breakfast at Tara Lodge was cooked to order .All in all no complaints at all . Staff were very efficient , on arrival the receptionist had ordered a black cab tour for us straight away .The parking was on site , another bonus. I must add there was no bar on site , or fridge in the room , but that did not present any problems for us as it did not take long to find one !If i ever came back to Ireland I would most certainly stay again and have no hesitation in recommending Tara Lodge to other people. It was a most comfortable , quiet place to stay .

We stayed two nights and found this little hotel very comfortable. The breakfast was especially nice with delicious porridge (the nicest I have ever had) and nice coffee and cooked local food.
The room was good although it overlooked the street and one night was noisy with people leaving bars etc.. the next though was very quiet so it may have been a 'one off'. The staff were friendly and helpful and although it was a bit of a walk into town (about 15 minutes) there were a lot of restaurants very close by. An Italian restaurant "Scalinis" was very nice.
The hotel advertises free wifi but it was not very good as I had to continually log on to stay connected so gave up on that.
All in all though it was a lovely little hotel and well priced.

Room Tip: Try to get one off the street as there can be noise from drunks walking home as this is in a residen...

Stayed for two nights and the fact that it doesn't have a restaurant (except for breakfast) or a bar is no problem. There are a number of recommended restaurants (I recommend Scalinis - a good Italian) within 5 minutes walk. The hotel is near the centre, has its own car park and is sandwiched between other older terraced houses. It's a recently built hotel, is clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast (included) was freshly cooked plus there were buffet options. It was excellent. The rooms are very comfortable and warm (it was 0C outside), and the bathrooms clean and good with generous portions of toiletries.the hotel is about 2 miles from the Titanic Experience and will take less than 5 minutes by car but you'll need a map or a SatNav to find your way there. The recent troubles in the city are really away from the centre and are quite insignificant. They are just localised and by no means widespread so they won't affect your enjoyment. We're due to leave tomorrow but we'll definitely come back to this interesting and friendly city.

Nice accomodation and great staff but this is not a hotel!! I stay in many hotels due to business commitments and once checked in the last thing I want to do is go back outside again. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel - pretty basic requirements in any hotel in my eyes. Admittedly, this is pointed out on the website but such a detail should be made much clearer than it was (I missed it!).

This is a great B&B but a 'hotel'? Not as far as I'm concerned.

Dear DarrenM

Thanks for taking the time to post your comments regarding your thoughts on our services. As you point out we make no secret of the fact that we do not have a bar or restaurant on our premises. This is because just 3 minutes walk from our property is the vibrant and lively Botanic Ave, where there are numerous restaurants, cafes and pubs – from fine dining to sushi and from Mexican to Chinese.

I appreciate that not everybody wants to leave our premises once checked in, especially as our rooms are so stylish and comfortable, but the majority of our customers can’t wait to get out, to explore all that Belfast has to offer! For those who wish to stay in we offer a delivery service, to your door, from a fine selection of fast food options.

I appreciate your comments on our accommodation and our staff (I too think they are great) but it’s a pity that your review did not reflect the high standard of the actual services you did enjoy which included welcoming, friendly service, an a la carte fresh breakfast, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and, whether used or not, free secure car parking.

Kind Regards

Nora Douds

We recently stayed at the Tara Lodge with many family and friends who were over from America for our wedding and they were nothing but helpful, friendly, and gracious. The breakfast was great, rooms were clean and modern, and I preferred the location, which was nearer to the university than the city center, but had tons of great restaurants and bars nearby. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Belfast.

This hotel/lodge is in a great location and well priced. It is nice and quiet. It is very modern and clean. The rooms are small but well appointed and the shower pressure and ease of use is fantastic. There is coffee making facilities. The only thing needed was a fridge to keep drinks cold if needed. Wi-fi is free and worked well except for signing in each time. Breakfast was included and was great as it was cooked to order from an a la carte menu. The staff were always friendly and courteous. There is also a free carpark which is handy when parking is at a premium. It is situated in the university district and there are numerous little cafes/supermarkets/ restaurants to choose from. It is a 10 minute stroll into the centre of Belfast. Would certainly recommend this place to stay and we will stay if we visit Belfast again.
