My partner an i stayed here in Oct 2010 for a concert. On arrival staff very helpful, the apartment was very spacious. The fridge was full when we arrived milk, butter, jam etc this was excellent. Apartment very clean and breakfast was lovely the next morning. Location is great and very central to all tourist attractions. Really enjoyed our stay and if ever stayin in Belfast again we will be back to stay at the Malone Lodge Hotel.

Hi Jacqueline,
Great to hear you'd such a great time staying in our apartments. As you clearly found, they make a perfect base for the night, weekend or even slightly longer when coming up to town.

Obviously they were perfect for your concert which is feedback we regularly get as the extra
space, living rooms and kitchen make it a perfect home away from home!

we'll look forward to seeing you back again soon
kind regards

Good parking at back of hotel, was my fist visit and will be back again when in this area.
Would recommend this hotel for lunch, not overpriced and very friendly staff.
Have been telling my friends about this hotel and they can/t wait to visit.

I wish them the very best in the future, as they deserve many awards.

Stayed here for one night as part of the citydeal promotion - booked two rooms.
Staff were friendly at check-in though there was some confusion over if the room was ready or not (5.30pm Sunday evening) and that took a while to resolve. Room was fine but there was a very unpleasant sewage type smell emanating from the toilet in the bathroom. As the stay was just for one night we just put up with it, had it been for longer I would have certainly have requested to move to another room.

Dinner was good but it felt a little too opportunistic on the part of the hotel in relation to the citydeal promotion. My feeling is that establishments should use these promotions as a gateway to repeat business, instead the approach here was to charge for absolutely everything. The promotion suggested one main meal, however all sides were charged as extra so in essence you received the meat on the plate only. I found it unfair to consider items like pepper sauce or garlic butter as a chargeable extra (same price as potatoes/veg etc) and it left me resenting the hotel for trying to take advantage rather than promoting themselves as a place I would return to or recommend.

All in all it was an okay stay but the bathroom odour and attitude regarding additional charging in relation to the promotion, let the place down. I would recommend that the management review their approach to go just that little bit extra and it would certainly make a difference.

Thank you very much for your valuable feedback. I'm very glad to see you enjoyed the quality of our food and comfort of our rooms. Apologies for the smell within your room - as you mentioned, you'd put up with this. I'm sure it is little consolation to you, now that you've left to know, that we would have more than happily moved your room without question if you had let us know and this issue is now fixed.

More so however, in relation to the sides issue - we really appreciate the feedback. This was the first time the groupon offer had been used with any hotel in Belfast. Although we had thought by ensuring Groupon put the terms and conditions clearly on their site for the offer at time of booking, that sides were not included and the offer priced accordingly, this would be sufficient. However we've realised that for some guests, such as yourself, we did not meet your expectations and for this, we would like to apologise.

I would agree with you totally that the aim of this offer was priced purposely to bring new guests into the hotel who would return as regular guests and refer us to friends. As I’m sure you are aware, groupon take the biggest % of the revenue from your booking with a small amount being paid to the hotel so under no circumstances, would we wish you to have felt oversold!

We have taken on board the learning’s from this and hope that you will both understand and be prepared to revisit us again soon.

Kind regards and thanks again
Gareth and the team at malone lodge.

My husband and I spent the weekend here thanks to a wonderful offer of Groupon. I thought with booking with this service we would have been treated differently to other visitors, but we were wrong. From the minute we arrived the staff were wonderful even let us check into our room when we arrived several hours before the official check in time. We also took advantage of their offer to check out late and Sunday Carvery. The beds are so comfortable and the room (Classic Double) was roomy and had everything we needed. Well done keep up the good service.

Stayed in two appartments one was for grandparents. They were located about 20 meters from the main hotel. Check in was simple and efficient. the appartments were very spacious, but both were stinking of cooked onions. They were reasonably clean and the bedroom was dated but sufficient. The tiny TV didnt work in the bedroom, but for us that didnt matter. The lounge/ kitchen area was very spacious with an abundance of seating. There was also a large flat screen tv with a good choice of channels The kitchen area was modern and had all the amenites you would need to cook. We were provided with a selection of cereals, bread butter tea coffee and orange juice.
If the smell of onions could be sorted out this is a good enough place if you want your own space. Its like a self catering flat you would get in Spain while on holidays. Would I stay again, well that would depend on my reason to be there. Its a slightly up market student accomodation, and for stag/hen party it would work well. As a place to stay on a city break its not for me...but there again if you are on a budget its as good as you will get for the money

Good afternoon John,
Thanks very much for your recent posting. I'm very glad to see that you found our check in and space in the apartments so appealing.

I note that you stayed with some members of the family which as you found, would be very popular due to the space and pricing. On your recommendation of these for stag & hens, this is not generally the type of guests who stay with us as they are aimed more for family and couples on weekends away with business guests during the week.

However we do get quite a lot of girl’s weekends away, reunions and sporting groups due to the close access to the shopping district of the Lisburn road, city centre and the surrounding sports facilities within the area.

I would like to apologise for the onion smell in 1 of the 2 apartments booked. Due to the facilities of the fully fitted kitchen, guests do enjoy using this. As a result, on very rare occasions, if guests have been cooking strong food in the morning, it may be difficult for us to fully remove such smells. Normally we'd move guests to another free apartment but were unable to do so in your case due to being fully booked.

Like all hotels, we're continuously monitoring and updating our decor throughout the hotel and our 3 separate apartment facilities. In fact, we actually opened a brand new block last year with state of the art facilities as well as currently undertaking a refurbishment program in the 2nd one. Therefore, we'll hopefully see you back soon in our apartments or you can of course take advantage of our renowned hotel bedrooms and suites.

Thanks again and Best Regards

Gareth & all the team at Malone Lodge
