“Sleeping on air.....bliss!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2008

We loved our stay at the Stormont Hotel. The rooms are spacious, beds are massive and incredibly comfy and the pillows were the best i've ever slept on. We had a meal and drinks in the bar and the staff were really friendly and food was delicious. We even considered delaying our flights to stay another night. I would definitely stay here again and highly rcommend it!

We arrived at hotel and our reservation was not there. Receptionist was helpful and booked us in anyway. We were put in an executive room which was far from it. The bathroom must have been from the original build as there was plenty of filling of holes in the tiles and it was so small that the poor cat suffered. Bed was top quality and the room was updated but you can't hide wood chip. Two booked into room but there was one bathrobe, one set of toiletries and so on.
The breakfast for a so called four star was poor. The breakfast was cold and when mentioning it to the chief waiter he said "you must be one of the ones that like a hot breakfast" .... it wasn't continental! It was a buffet breakfast and for a four star it doesn't wash. I stay at least 180 nights a year away and this was a bad four star. Bar closed at 12 am on a friday with a good crowd waiting for more drink. Just dissapointed with a hotel with comes under the Hastings brand which I've stayed in before.

I stayed for one night on a business trip. It was just as expected of a four star hotel.
The staff were friendly. The Bar meal ( only served till 7 p.m.) was good. The gym looked OK. The restraint looked too bistroish for my tastes. Breakfast was normal.

I stayed at this hotel with my partner, as it was our first time away I was hoping that this hotel would live up to its reputation...and i can honestly say it did.
The check in was a bit late but the staff seemed genuinely empathetic towards that and apologised and offered us some tea and coffee.
When we arrived to our double room we had a huge flat screen HD TV, duck feather duvets, disposible slippers, bathrobe, excellent Neutrogena shower gels and shampoo's with mouth wash, shoe shines, sewing kits and to top it all off a hotel Rubber duck!
We had a large selection of tea and coffee and thankfully herbal tea as well and a bottle of Riverrock water.
We were leaving to catch a flight at about 4am and the staff still were able to bring us up our breakfasts at that time and it was a very generous amount of food.
As with every hotel there are some flaws, for our trip it was only really the soap dish in the bathroom that looked like it could be replaced and the loose toilet seat.
Overall an excellent stay and I would highly recommend it.

  • Liked — The quality of the room, great tv and polite staff.
  • Disliked — Just a small thing, nothing major...the soap dish could have been changed and the toilet seat tightened up.

Stayed at the Stormont during the busy Easter period. The location is excellent and it is close to City Airport. A bus 4, 5 or 20 stops outside the door and goes to the City Centre. The room was OK but housekeeping let this hotel down as the daily cleaning wasn't very good. The radiator was broken but the TV worked OK. The breakfast wasn't great. Small selection and you had to make your own toast. I don't expect that in a 4 star establishment. I don't know why they had so many breakfast staff when it was virtually DIY. Staff were friendly and check in was easy. But because of the price I wouldn't stay here again as it is not worth the money.
