“Nice stay with some issues”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

As honours members we have stayed in many Hiltons.

On arrival we were greeted warmly by the reception staff and our executive floor rom was clean and comfortable.
We went to a concert at the waterfront and then back to the Hilton for a night cap.
Before retiring we asked what time breakfast was in the morning and were told it finished at 11am on 11th floor.
We went for a run at half eight and showered on our return. We went for breakfast at ten. The room was full and we put our door key in to be greeted by a very stern faced lady who snorted "breakfast has finished, you are too late." She blocked us from entering. I pointed out that we were told it finished at eleven and so were an hour early. She would have none of it and said "you have been misinformed we are closed you'll have to go down stairs"
It wasn't that she was rude, just very abrupt and unfriendly.
We went down to reception and were treated properly by the terrific front of house staff.

The dining room was full of dirty dishes which needed clearing but no one was bothering to clear away.

Breakfast was lovely though.

Just a few small hiccups spoiled an otherwise faultless visit.

If you want to visit Belfast and stay in a 5 star hotel, then avoid this property. Having recently stayed at the Merchant Belfast (also a 5 star property) the 5 star hilton in no way compares. This hotel disappoints from the moment of arrival. Lack of valet parking, no one visible to help with luggage. Check in staff although efficient lack warmth. At the Merchant the check in staff introduce themselves by name and shake your hand to welcome you. The lobby of the hotel is spacious with lots of natural light but lacks any character. The bar is also devoid of any character, televisions constantly show sports. Staff not attentive. No real buzz, if you want hotel bar with character visit the Fitzwilliam or the Merchant.
Stayed on first floor, room usual hilton standard. In no way can I fault the room itself, was clean, comfortable and absolutely no road noise.Location is great for visiting Belfast as all major sites can be visited on foot.
Being a 5 star property expect some basics such as bottled water in room, dressing robes and slippers all of which where lacking. When asked for water advised this could be arranged but would be charged. I find this unacceptable for a 5 star property, water was made available but only after having to speak with duty manager.
Breakfast also a major disappointment- when staying in top end property expect table service, not a self service buffet and a poor quality buffet at that. Fresh friut salad was less then fresh. Teaspoons would be a great benefit, note that not single table had teaspoons.
Check out was a cold as the check in, our response of no to the "did you enjoy your stay" question barely registered.
The hilton is an adequate 4 star but in no way deserves a 5 star rating. If you want 5 star in belfast stay at the merchant. Others have complained about car parking charge of £18 per night, however this is a city property and I would expect to be charged but I would expect valet parking.
Northern Ireland tourist board have alot to answer when award Hilton Belfast 5 stars but can only manage to give the Fitzwilliam Belfast 4 stars.
Have made decision to stay at Hilton because of their link with Etihad guest programme. In past 12 months have stayed Hilton Abu Dhabi, Brighton, Boston, Double tree Bristol and trip to city in my own country is the most disappointing. I cant recommend this hotel to someone wanting a 5 star or who expects a 5 star service.

I have stayed here several times on business because of its convenient location. My main gripe is the fact that room WiFi has to be paid for. In this day and age to have to pay extra for this is ridiculous. My second gripe is that, as with many modern hotels, the bar and restaurant lack atmosphere.

This was a convienant location while I attended a conference. The hotel is typical Hilton in terms of the room and hotel facilities . The staff were friendly and helpful. The costs was expensive for Belfast. The service on the rooms was not what I would expect of a Hilton hotel. The wet bath towels were neatly folded and re-hung on the rail making the next shower rather unpleasant. This may have been an over site as the hotel was very busy with a lot of bus tours.

I have stayed here on 3 occasions recently and had a first class experience each time. Great location with Titanic centre, Waterfront Hall and Victoria Square shopping complex nearby. This hotel has stunning views over Belfast, the food is superb with large, spacious & clean bedrooms. I found all the staff courteous and most helpful, particularly as some of our group had a disability. The hotel was busy on all 3 occasions I stayed, and while it isn't cheap to stay here my vote is it represents excellent value for money as it truly is 5 star hotel experience and in my opinion the best in Belfast.

Room Tip: Book well in advance for best rates. Rooms on higher floors have best views.

I stay here regularly on business trips. Excellent hotel and very friendly staff. Executive rooms and lounge excellent. Pity there isn't a swimming pool and the gym is only small with not much equipment for those of you looking to do some training.

Room Tip: Catch the sightseeing bus early outside market place(can be seen from hotel) buy a two day ticket st...
