“Uneven service”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

We spent two nights here. When we arrived, we turned the heat down, but we left, and upon return the room temperature had been turned back up to stifling. I appreciate energy saving, but they could have turned down the heat and had better lighting. The hotel is well located and the area is safe to walk at night. We ate breakfast and dinner with our tour group. Both were adequate but uninspiring. The pub staff was very accommodating.

I often stay here for work purposes, the staff are always helpful and friendly and some remember me from previous trips, always nice when I am away from home. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, and the conference facilities are great - especially helpful staff on the mezzanine floor. Because the hotel is just a short walk into the heart of Belfast for dinner, I haven't eaten there a lot apart from the breakfast, which is always good - plenty of choice to suit most tastes including a fresh cook omelette chef, I love the porridge! The restaurant is spacious, lots of room between the tables, free newspapers and lovely views of the river. Room wise - I find the upper floors are better (not quite got Executive status yet, so floor 6 is the highest I am given, but I live in hope) - odd numbers look over the river and railway line and the even numbers the city and hills. The lower floors on the city side can be noise because they look over the service entrance to the hotel and Waterfront theatre. I have never had a problem with changing though. My only gripe is that each room I have been in has a shower over the bath and it is quite a climb for a short-legged person like me to get in and out of.

Stayed for one night. Reception staff were courteous and check in quick. We had a city facing room on the 12th floor. Although dated, the room was clean and comfortable. Use of the Executive Lounge was a pleasant bonus as we could relax with a coffee and sandwich before we left for a concert in the Odyssey. Breakfast choice was excellent. The egg station chef was so obliging. A gripe from a previous stay had been the lack of motivated staff. We certainly cant say that this time. I asked for mustard and as it was not available on the buffett a young male waiter immediately went to the kitchen and returned to our table with a well presented choice. It was service with a smile from all breakfast staff!!

Its a pity that something couldnt be done to shield patrons from the sun as many residents had to move to tables out of the sunlight. Part of the Hiltons charm is its proximity to the River so it would be nice to be able to enjoy the view without getting blinded.

As usual, the payment of £18 for overnight carparking remains irritating. Why could a better rate not be negotiated with the car park owners? Might attract more users!!

We stayed 2 nights over the weekend (of the Belfast marathon). Check in was extremely nice, with real time taken to check you in and make you aware of the facilities and so on. I know you get that everywhere but this felt like they really wanted me to enjoy the hotel and the town (so well done Donna). The room was nice, view over the river, tea, coffee - usual amenities, but no bathrobes, which was odd for a 5* Hilton. Buffet breakfast was dee-lish-us. Location is great to get all to the sites, city centre, etc. Agree with other comments about the bar though - did seem a tad lack-lustre, with slow service. Almost had to wave at the wait staff to get noticed. Proved difficult to get a cab back to the airport the day we left - the marathon blocked off the entrance to the hotel, so we had to walk to the city centre, with bags. Not really the hotel's fault of course, but was a bit of a drag. That aside, a very nice base for a stop in Belfast. Would recommend it and would go back again.

Room Tip: Away from the lifts - they're surprisingly noisy. We were in 705 so ask for a higher number than...

The hotel was lovely and close to everywhere we needed to go. There was a minibar in the room which we didnt avail of. The rooms were beautiful with a great view over belfast. The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was beautiful, well worth getting up early for!

Id stay here again!

Restaurant and bar service... bad. A martini??? what is that? (After a 45 min wait at the table)
The second night was marginally better... still no martini.

The servers are eastern European and English is a second language, barely.

Wow! This was a great surprise while on a group tour to stay at such a lovely hotel.
The lobby was inviting as was the beautiful dining area. We were able to have eggs prepare to our liking which is unheard of on most tour stays. The rooms and amenities were great. Could walk downtown. Great hotel experience.

Room Tip: I don't know if there is a bad one
