“Night out in Belfast”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

Visited Northern Whig for a meal. Food was good but fairly average. Service was excellent. Place is quite large so was short on atmosphere. Seems to be a popular place for stag/hen nights so quite noisy. Definitely not the place for a quiet or intimate meal.

A lovely spot, the architecture is amazing, lots of cobbled streets with bars & restaurants, very near to the river and the Titanic Experience

“Eat, drink and be merry in the Cathedral Quarter”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

This is now probably the best area in the city for night life. Whether eating out, music or simply people watching the area has it all.
A wide selection of restaurants and bistros in and around St Annes square with the Ramada Encore hotel included if you're staying over.
Try 2Taps for great tapas and live music on a Friday after work.
The Black box is a another popular music venue with live music in the bar every weekend and some week nights and top class local performers in the main auditorium every weekend.
for the younger crowd there is Ollies nightclub in the basement of the Merchant hotel which itself serves high quality food and great afternoon teas with an oldie world atmosphere.

“Good area to stay”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

So handy for cultural attractions, restaurants, pubs and shops. City Bus tour starts and ends here. The Big Fish, St.George's Market, Victoria Square Shopping Centre with its dome all an easy stroll. Lively at night, thoroughly enjoyed staying in this area.

“lovely area for going out, restaurants and bars”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

Cathedral quarter is a good example of what Belfast has become. Many years ago there was nothing in this area, but today it is buzzing with bars and restaurants. It is a small area, so don't expect to be walking around for a long time, but is therefore compact and easy to find a nice bar and place to eat. The Spaniard is a favourite if you can get in. Best times to go are through the week, weekend nights will be very busy, but a great place to chill with a glass of rioja. The Cloth ear is bigger and busier, a great place to meet and mingle. Berts Jazz bar is great for a slightly older crowd, live jazz music every night from 9pm - 11pm. Beautiful old bar decorated in lush 1920s style.
