have been visiting this museum for 40 years, i love it, has changed a lot recently due to total refurb, it took me a while to get used to the changes but the atmosphere is still there, the museum is very informative and great for kids of all ages, the restaurant is good though expensive.botanic gardens, where the museum is situated, are great for a picnic or walk around the glass houses.

“Ulster Art Society Exhibition”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

A diverse exhibition showcasing some of the most prolific of Irish artists today. A wide diversity of exhibits, from the sublime to the artistically ridiculous (''I could have done that!!'') but a great exhibition. I'm inspired to dig out whats under my bed....seriously though, a really great show and with the artists themselves (Joe Mc Williams was there on my visit) there on certain dates to talk you round the gallery, it really is well worth a visit. The museum itself is an absolute treat for old and young alike.

“So much to see....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We visitied our friend who is studying at Queens University and we recommended by several locals to visit Ulster museum. We were amazed at how much there was to see - we spent several hours there and wished we could have stayed longer. The mummy is amazing! The staff were very helpful and the rooms very well laid out to make it interesting to a wide audience. Would definitely visit again.

“Ulster Museum - Yellow Door - So-so food and atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

The sandwiches were overwhelmed by the bread, the service a little shoddy, the tables were dirty, and the wine was merely palatable. For the price and location, we were expecting more.

“Fun for young and old”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

This place is great! There is no admission and a wide range of interesting subjects - from the Troubles and Irelands early history to marine wildlife and arts - is covered. The presentation is very nice and there are "Do-it-yourself"-areas for each theme that are very interesting for children and the young at heart. A must-see in Belfast in my opinion - plus it is located in the beautiful zoological garden!
