“Excellent museum”

Spacious lovely building housing too many subjects to mention here. I could have spent longer there and still not seen everything. The best bit was it was free to explore the main exhibits.

“Very wide ranging collections”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

In the botanical gardens and next door to the Queen's University complex, the museum has a wide variety of exhibits covering the history of Northern Ireland from pre-historic times to virtually the present day. Also lots of paintings and a big natutal history section.

Cafe with views out onto the gardens is also recommended as is the spectacular entrance atrium.

“You can't do it in 45 minutes”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

The museum is next to Queens University and has no entry fee, only a suggested donation. I was pressed for time so I flew through the exibits on the origins of man and went right to the local history area that provided insight into what events had shaped the Northern Ireland and Belfast of today. You really need at least a couple hours to see this well worthwhile sight.

“Not enough info”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

The Ulster Museum has been through a major re-furb and it is light and airy. There are not enough information signs to tell you about the expo. Belfast also has a lot more history to impart and the spaces within the building could be bulked out.

“Brilliant”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

We found the museum by chance on a visit to the botanic gardens. Free entry and a delightful 3+ hours learning about the history, art and culture of Northern Ireland plus a coffee and a cake in the cafe. What more could you ask for? We especially liked the Armada exhibition and the treasure from the sunken galleons. Highly recommended
