Historically very significant, but also a poignant reminder of just how divided Northern Ireland still is to this day...make sure you get a good taxi driver to truly appreciate everything.

Visit the Shankhill Road, it's a great place to see the murals on the walls and if possible speak to the local people. The place is steeped in history and the edivence is still there.

I thought it would be all very religion based but it is something you have to see if you go to Belfast...nice people and the artwork is amazing.

My mother was born and schooled in the SHANKILL,so it was a very emotional return for me,as in the late 50s early 60s,iused to spend my 6 weeks school holidays there. It has cirtainly been cleaned up,and even though the Glenfarne street is still there,it is now 1970s housing, complete with bathrooms.Iwould advise for the best access,is to take the red bus tour, and jump on,jump off.Can recomend a pint in the SHANKILL,N.I.SUPPORTERS CLUB to anybody interested in football.Loads of photo shoots, and lots of sad stories to be heard.Enjoy the SHANKHILL now as it must be due for restoration soon, where it will loose all its character. Can recomend the "SHANK" if your there on the 12th july,a real family day with the locals.
