“Ignored”

Looking for a quick bite to eat we decided on maggie mays (the one beside the university). I'd been before and liked the food. Never again. The place was full, there were about five staff hanging around the till and no one came up to say we'd have to wait for a table. Some of the staff even walked right passed us as if we weren't even there. Fed up waiting I went up to one of the staff to ask for a table and was told, quite dismissively, "no tables." Needless to say we left and won't be back.

“Hit and miss”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013 via mobile

Always a popular spot which means it can be difficult to get seated at busier times and, like most places, the quality of service declines at these times. The food can be hit and miss, but when the chefs are on form you get a good, enjoyable feed. The attentitiveness of the staff could be improved, dumping a menu in front of you and disappearing for 10 minutes can be quite irritating, especially when one is hungry. The Botanic ave cafe is, however, the better of the two Maggie Mays. The Malone cafe is larger but the service is slower and food of a lesser quality. Overall, great spot for students, avoid at busy times and staff, try not to stress as much.

“nice nice nice!”

Been to Maggie Mays more than once. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in the city. Great for a Sunday breakfast/lunch (after a Saturday night out): you won't find a better Irish/Ulster fry in the whole city.

Had breakfast in here three times when I was visiting Belfast. Food was lovely and the portions huge. Great selection on the menu. Only problem I had i ordered a Latte with my breakfast and never recieved it, not a big deal.

“Chilled plates!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

Ate here yesterday morning, the service was slow and worst of all the food was served on chilled plates.....not room temperature but chilled. I ordered a filled soda with beans separate, they too were served in a chilled gravy boat. The coffee was over stewed and the mugs filled so full I struggled to get milk in. The staff are not friendly in any way. The portions were generous, but that is of little use as the negatives massively outweigh the good points. As it was my first time I will give it another go, but from other reviews I don't hold out much hope. S
