Owner description: Experience Belfast provides you with the best overview of Belfast you will find. Originally a walking tour which could best be described as street theatre, it's a theatrical experience available as a Day Tour, Walking Tour or Coach Tour. We provide brilliant tours for individuals and groups and we also arrange workshops with writers, politicians and journalists. We consistently receive excellent reviews on Trip Advisor for a reason, this is one of the best tours you'll ever do. If you want something that's informed, intelligent, good fun and craic, we're right up your street.

“More than bullets and bombs the real Belfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2010

As a Northern Ireland native it was refreshing to go on this tour with friends from London who had booked it to learn about Belfast in its wider context and not just the as the city synonymous with bullets and bombs. While the 'black taxi' tours have their place Arthur's tour paints the full Belfast picture. This is a great way of getting your bearings around the city and is thoroughly entertaining. The three hours fly-by although I would lobby Arthur to take you for a pint of the 'black stuff' on the way to break up the tour, either in one of Ireland's oldest pubs or the more decadent Merchant Hotel for a cocktail. The tour is free but worth paying . My out of town visitors without my knowledge actually paid him more as they enjoyed it so much. One more tip if there is anything you do not understand about the minutia of Northern Ireland just get Arthur to explain he is a really approachable guy.

“Belfast Free Tours - like no other walking tour we've been on!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2010

We got embroiled in the middle of this tour by accident while walking round the City Centre and it was the highlight of our five day trip. There's no cost (although you're trusted to contribute a fair tip at the end if you've enjoyed it) so the guide, Arthur, was happy to let us tag along.

Half historical tour/half comic monologue, it takes in most of the usual landmarks but with the addition of Arthur's idiosyncratic commentary that includes asides about Belfast bands from the 80s, local artists and most of all - that what we think we know about Belfast and its people is only half the story.

For example, did you realise that Belfast, unlike most English ports, refused to have anything to do with the slave trade? Or that some of the first Catholic churches were built with generous contributions from Presbyterians? Or that The Undertones were the best band ever?

Neither did we but we do now thanks to an entertaining and informative afternoon with Arthur.

“Great insight to city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2010

This is an informative and thoughtful walk around the heart of Belfast, from the City Hall, into the shops and the waterside. You will find out about history, life in the city, pubs, clubs, music and much more. Arthur has lived in Belfast for much of his life, through the Troubles, and presents an insight into life then and now. At times challenging, you'll also have great fun and a wealth of recommendations for the rest of your stay. It's free in the sense that there's no charge, but you are expected to tip whatever you feel it's worth. Well recommended.
