We went here with friends after the St Patrick's Day parade. Haven't been to the market before and certainly didn't expect there to be a superb wee gem of a restaurant there! After wandering around and really absorbing the atmosphere of the Sunday variation of the market, I believe it is different on other days, we decided to try the Bar & Grill. Best decision in a long time!
The decor and ambience were lovely and to be honest they were so nice I wondered if we would have to break into the plastic when the bill came! We were asked if we would like to dine inside or on the messanine, we chose this so we could enjoy people watching.
The menu, though not massive, was interesting, and states that they use the produce from teh market which I thought was a lovely touch. I ordered mussels in Magners cider with bacon and cream - to die for! My other half had the seafood chowder, which was also very special. Others in our party had the Ulster Fry, chicken linguine and our 9 year old ordered the burger. All of us where delighted with our portions sizes and choices.
The staff were friendly and professional, just the right mix of charm and humour and knowledgeable about the food. Service was prompt and efficient. The prices were surprising reasonable and no, we didn't need the plastic! Just another plus point!
I have been telling all my friends to make a point of trying this place as I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
The market too was impressive and I will be back with an appetite and more friends to enjoy a lazy Sunday there.
