“Quiet, good atmosphere, very nice staff.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2013

I find it hard to understand why this first floor restaurant is so quiet. It might be because it is near an interface area and on the edge of the city centre. We ate on a Thursday evening and it was only half full at 8 pm. We chose a seat at the window looking onto Oxford Street and had a reasonably priced decent red wine and two very good courses each. The manager on the evening was Joe and a friendlier fella would be hard to meet. We were the last to leave at 10pm and there was no pressure on us to go but it was obvious they would close as soon as we had gone.
The bar area looks good too and once again I'm surprised noone came in for just a drink as the atmosphere is so good.

“Great Night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

Out with 2 other couples for a great meal. We were never hurried and the service was excellent. Food was great , the atmosphere was great , the service was great . One Steak came down not well enough cooked to her liking and they replaced the her whole meal. No qualms. Maureen looked after us very well. Thanks again.

“The steak is to die for!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

I've been here a few times now and the steaks are just amazing. The last one I got was probably the best sirloin I've ever had. I think the meat comes from Hannan's which explains a lot but the cooking does it justice.

My starter of chicken liver parfait was tasty and generous; my partners confit duck was a tad stringy but not bad. He opted for the mixed grill which was exactly as you'd expect - a recipe for a food coma - but he loved it despite being envious of my onion rings.

The chips were chunky and delicious and the pepper sauce a perfect accompaniment. Loved it!

Enthusiasm made up for slightly haphazard service, we'll definitely be back.

It was quiet for a fri night which made me a bit sad but it always looks hectic on market days so I hope they're doing ok.

“As good as ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

We enjoyed yet another lovely meal on Sat night. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and were lucky to be shown to one of the booths for our meal. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even letting us mix and match from the pre theatre and main menus.
The starter and main courses were both excellent and we enjoyed the very acceptable house red and white wines.
Overall, the meal and the service were as good as ever and reminded us why it's always one of our first choice restaurants when dining in Belfast.

“Excellent Find for a Great Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

After about 24 hrs of traveling, landing in Dublin, then driving to Belfast to start a 10 day tour of Ireland, we happened upon this gem of a restaurant after the lunch rush on a Tuesday afternoon a couple of blocks from the Hilton Belfast (our rooms were not ready on arrival at 1:15pm). This second floor bar and grill, overlooking the St. Georges Market, was GREAT. Good service, excellent and fresh food, and a warm atmosphere were our reward. The Goat Cheese and Spinach quiche for my granddaughter, and the beef and mushroom pie for me were outstanding. We only wish we had time to return for an evening meal.
