The staff are super friendly and helpful. Easy and cheap hostel to get with cab from the bus station. My wife and I stayed here and our room was a nice size and was secure. The only thing we disliked was the hostel bathrooms were not super clean and it is kind of noisy from the streets.

Warm, clean, spacious, and fun. Free breakfast (accommodates vegetarians) and wifi. £12 per night for a 10 person mixed room-- blanket, sheets, pillow, and lockers provided. Locks available for rent. Bathrooms were clean and plentiful. Amazing location near Queens University and within walking distance of the city center. Giants Causeway day trip £16 per person. Historical Black Taxi Tour of the Galetacht Quarter £30 total regardless of the amount of people in the car. Dinner (burgers or fish and chips) available for £1.50.

Wonderful, fun loving, and very helpful staff (Lookin' at you, Linda and Max!). Large collection of movies available in the common room. Sadly, no instruments available for rent. No pets. Few books available in the communal dining area.

The best nights were spent in the common room (with Nerf guns!). Highly recommended. Would absolutely stay here again :)

friendly and helpful staff, convenient location. Clean and spacious rooms. Beautiful city. There were 5 of us, and we had plenty of room. I would definitely stay here again and I do recommend it. The staff gave s suggestions to take the scenic route to the Giants Causeway. worth it.

The location was convenient with everything within easy walking distance. The free wifi was excellent with a fast connection. The cleanliness of the room was good. There was a bathroom with a shower for every 3 or 4 rooms so not much waiting about. We only stayed for 2 nights as a local couple and we were happy with our stay, but this hostel would really be ideal for a single traveler or a group or just people looking to socialise and make new friends as the atmosphere encouraged this, with communal meals and a comfortable communal living area with a large dvd collection, big projector screen and a folder of drinking games. The addition of a free breakfast was great and there was a choice ranging from cereal or toast to a full english, all cooked by friendly staff. They also offered a dinner for amazing value of £1.50 pp.
Overall it was an excellent hostel but there were a couple of small things that made it 4 instead of 5 for us this time. We had booked a double room via the website but when we arrived we had been given a twin room with bunk beds. There are only 2 private rooms in the hostel, one is a twin, and the other is a double. On the website, it does not differentiate, there is just the option to select a private room. I would recommend phoning them to ensure you have booked the right room. The young girl who booked us in was apologetic but couldnt do anything about it as another couple had booked the double for that night. She did make arrangements for us to move to the double the following night. The double room is very nice and looks more like a hotel room than a hostel room so we were happy once we moved. However, we were not so happy when the manager entered our room at 11:15 without knocking and told us rather abruptly checkout was at 11 and we were to move upstairs to the double room. We didn't know that we were to move first thing, otherwise we would have been ready but as we had a very late night, were still in bed and were just grateful we were not caught in a compromising position! The only other issue was that the single glazing windows did nothing to filter the rather excessive street noise which carried on well past 4am. We stayed during the festive season so we sort of expected some noise given the large student population of the area so it probably wouldnt be so bad outside of this time. having said that, we did appreciate the efforts made to ensure there was no disturbance from other guests as the hostel operates a no noise after midnight policy, with all common areas closed at midnight.
Overall, great value for money and you definitely get more for your money than you would at any other hostel. We found the Australian girl, Australian guy and New Zealand guy very friendly, welcoming and extremely hospitable. Lovely staff, great location and social atmosphere.

Room Tip: If you want a double as opposed to bunk beds, phone and check.

Included is a FREE English Breakfast that includes Bacon, Sausage, egg, beans and toast. Or Porridge or scrambled eggs and bacon. Please note breakfast is strictly between 8 and 10 with no exceptions. All breakfast served only with coffee or tea. Lagan Backpackers is simply a large Belfast house that has been converted into a Backpackers Hostel; and it is owned and run by a South African guy who knows what backpackers want. Our high ratings are mostly due to the great attention and recommendations that you can expect from both myself and my staff. My idea for a great hostel is very simple: to make you feel at home. To give you a comfortable bed to sleep in, to keep the noise down after eleven to ensure a peaceful sleep and to make you feel so at home that you make new friends and enjoy Belfast as much as possible. We provide advice on all tours of Northern Ireland, and will only recommend tours that we have personally experienced. We advise that our customers do not pre-book tours before visiting as we find that some tour operators overcharge and do not provide the level of customer satisfaction that we expect for our guests. In addition to this, Lagan Backpackers hostel is very friendly to single travellers, as we go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay. We are located minutes from the City Centre, the Lagan River and the picturesque Queens University campus; and mere moments away from the lively Botanic Avenue where there are many restaurants, shops, pubs and clubs for our customers to enjoy. Additionally, the Botanical Gardens that boast beautiful greenhouses and the famed Tropical Ravine is a short walk away, adjacent to the Ulster Museum. ** No groups, stag parties, hen parties or drunken weekends like Paddys day!! Please remember only for the 11,12,13,14 July I do not accept booking from people from the UK (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales..Also no American or Canadian band members). This is only for the marching season. No refunds on deposits will be given and you will be turned away on arrival. No stag or hen parties or groups without prior permission. ... more   less
