“Really the friendliest place in Belfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

We (12 French fire fighters) stayed over in Lagan Backpackers for a week in August during the World Police and Fire Games and we must say the welcoming was as friendly as it could by all the members of the staff! The size of the hostel is perfect, it just feels like home. Also it's located in a very nice area close to Queens University and Botanic avenue. Lots of bars and restaurants around. Free English breakfast in the morning realy was a treat after a night out :) We experienced a lot of youth hostels in barcelona, Liverpool, Andorra, New York and this one is by far the one where we had our best time!! Thanks again for everything to all of you! And keep it crafty :)

This is an amazing hostel! The staff are SO friendly and helpful and really make you feel at home. Really clean, good bathrooms, decent beds. Best thing is you get a free cooked breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay here again!

Well positioned and reasonably clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great homely atmosphere. The Giant's Causeway tour they recommended was a bit "cheap and nasty" compared to other options but if you want the cheapest then go on that one.

Amazing staff! Everyone is incredibly friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Breakfast is a full, delicious meal! Reception is eager to help you plan your activities. This is hostel is fun and very social, but still maintains quiet in the evening. Stay here!

This place is great. It has a great, friendly atmosphere. Delicious breakfast every morning, way more than I was expecting and to top it off, a barbecue nightly? What???
Steve and the owner, William, are two great, genuine guys and they will do everything to make you comfortable. Steve arranged multiple tours for us while he was cooking breakfast. It was hard to say goodbye. There isn't a better place in Belfast. Great location in the University area and not too far from center. Comfortable beds. Private showers. Cleaned very day.
Yes, it can get loud from the atmosphere but they are quite adamant about shutting down the common areas at midnight so everybody was happy. They really know what they're doing.
Really, really impressed. Thanks, guys!

Stayed here for three nights and had a brilliant time! The cooked breakfast included in the price was an unexpected surprise. You usually get bread, cheese and cereal in most places. The breakfast was better than most hotels I've stayed in. Steve is excellent at helping you with your stay. He will sort out the black taxi tour and tours to the giants causeway that pick you up right outside. There’s also a beer vending machine and the hostel encourages everyone to meet and talk with group meals etc. Only downside was the strange French boy who hoovers your room even if you’re asleep in bed. I found this more amusing than annoying though. Excellent location - would definitely stay again

LOVED this place. This was the first hostel I'd ever stayed at and it set the bar extremely high. The nightly cookouts were a great way to meet new friends, and the free breakfast was great. They set up a bus tour for us to see Carrick-a-Reede and the Giant's Causeway which was fantastic. The entire hostel group ended up heading out to pubs together and having a great time. Would absolutely recommend!

Included is a FREE English Breakfast that includes Bacon, Sausage, egg, beans and toast. Or Porridge or scrambled eggs and bacon. Please note breakfast is strictly between 8 and 10 with no exceptions. All breakfast served only with coffee or tea. Lagan Backpackers is simply a large Belfast house that has been converted into a Backpackers Hostel; and it is owned and run by a South African guy who knows what backpackers want. Our high ratings are mostly due to the great attention and recommendations that you can expect from both myself and my staff. My idea for a great hostel is very simple: to make you feel at home. To give you a comfortable bed to sleep in, to keep the noise down after eleven to ensure a peaceful sleep and to make you feel so at home that you make new friends and enjoy Belfast as much as possible. We provide advice on all tours of Northern Ireland, and will only recommend tours that we have personally experienced. We advise that our customers do not pre-book tours before visiting as we find that some tour operators overcharge and do not provide the level of customer satisfaction that we expect for our guests. In addition to this, Lagan Backpackers hostel is very friendly to single travellers, as we go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay. We are located minutes from the City Centre, the Lagan River and the picturesque Queens University campus; and mere moments away from the lively Botanic Avenue where there are many restaurants, shops, pubs and clubs for our customers to enjoy. Additionally, the Botanical Gardens that boast beautiful greenhouses and the famed Tropical Ravine is a short walk away, adjacent to the Ulster Museum. ** No groups, stag parties, hen parties or drunken weekends like Paddys day!! Please remember only for the 11,12,13,14 July I do not accept booking from people from the UK (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales..Also no American or Canadian band members). This is only for the marching season. No refunds on deposits will be given and you will be turned away on arrival. No stag or hen parties or groups without prior permission. ... more   less
