Description: Set in an imposing historic building on Belfast’s central Victoria Street, Malmaison is an ultra contemporary, ultra chic, urban retreat. The team behind Malmaison know that hotels aren’t just a place for sleeping, which is why a lot of thought and bags of style have gone in to the resident Brasserie, a hot spot in its own right. With its modernist feel the dining room has hints of 30s deco in its attractive black and red interior. Curved booths and luxurious upholstery are joined by sleek wood and low lighting while service is friendly yet unobtrusive. Two menus – one the simple brasserie menu, the other home grown and local – celebrate the best of Ireland’s ingredients while offering food which appeals to all palates.

We ate there as a family of five on New Years Eve. Not terribly busy at lunch time that day. Only two other people in the restaurant. Hence service was impeccable. Cannot complain about the size of the portions. We all had clean plates at the end and were more than full. Food was excellent, tasty, well presented and hot. French fries were 'fierce'!! Would visit again provided we had a repeat of the £100 gift voucher we had won in a raffle earlier in the year. A relaxing two hour break away from the January 'sales'. Bill came to £31 each which included a 10% service charge.

We ate here as part of the hotels New Years Eve Package and the food was delicious if a little on the sparse side especially when it came to the main meal. I was expecting a dish of vegetables to be brought but apparently they were already on the plate hiding under the beef wellington.
The staff are friendly and attentive and the wine prices reasonable too.
Breakfast here is definitely recommended, plenty of choice in the cooked to order menu, I had Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Waffles with Bacon and Maple syrup the following morning. There is also the usual cereals to choose from as well as Pastries, Yoghurt and juices etc.

Took my wife to Bistro for a birthday meal.

Cocktails to begin with which were refreshing.

Opted for the 3 course fixed menu @ £20 pp as it had more appealing choices than the a la carte.

Soup and Salmon starter were both excellent.

Pork and Cod as the main were both filling and fantastic.

Slightly regretted having a dessert as two courses were enough. Dessert wasn't as good as the main or starter. But had lost our appetite by now due to good portion sizes. Which may have impacted our taste buds.

Had good space between courses which was supported by excellent entry level wine @ £20 for a bottle.

Finished with coffee and cognac.

At £120 including service - nice ambience and a brilliant waitress called Sharon, who was so warm yet professional, really made you feel like you at your own home.

You felt like you were somewhere special. Highly recommend.

We just went for dinner, the restaurant isn't as grand as the the rest of the hotel but still nice. The service was impeccable and the food was very tasty but portions weren't that big. The atmosphere is quite boring and the whole experience wasn't worth the money.

Went here for set lunch menu after looking at the menu and price online. Impressive setting-if under lit, warm and friendly staff. Host of starters to choose from soup, salads, pate, even crepes and pancakes made on the spot. However,po our main course took half an hour to arrive, but it was good, hot and well presented. During the wait we noticed a price variation from the website and the printed menu-it was five quid more a head, I pointed this out to reception staff who amended our bill accordingly, however they had charged the higher rate since 1st of December to all other diners. That said, we left after an hour and 3/4 thinking it was worth the long wait in the end. Desert was 2nd to none.
