The first time , we ate in the restaurant overlooking the sea , the Food was good and plentiful , bit to much root veg with the Cod tho'....we enjoyed the experience , our second was after a walk to Caswell and back with jake my springer spaniel , we sat outside with the glass partitions , it was lovely evening . The Guinness was excellent and the pizzas we enjoyed , it was well worthy after an evening walk , totally recommend,

We have used this restaurant a lot as we are local, having said that it is some time since our last visit , but as we had family staying ,last week we decided to go as it is always very good , and on this occasion once again the food was excellent, could not fault my fillet steak it was perfect , and the scallops . the big disappointment was that they have started to charge for veg and i,m sorry but i think for the amount you receive the cost is negligible and there should not be a charge, this may seem a very small point but when you start adding small things onto your bill it soon adds up and if the bill is £80 or more ,i think its not needed.but as i said at the start the food is very good

I went to castellamare for lunch today at about 1 o'clock (Saturday) and it wasn't incredibly busy. It was a lovely day, clear skies and calm waters but it appeared that few people were eating, more people were outside enjoying the view though.

We got a brilliant table for the view. We could see the tide coming in and starting to go out again and the lighthouse which was beautiful, and we could see all the way across the water which was idyllic on a day like today.

Having been there before we knew the routine of choosing our food then going up to order and the food came very quickly, we didn't have to wait very long at all, despite there being 6 of us. I ordered a child sized pizza with mushrooms and olives with a side salad and I have to say I ordered the best. The side salad was brilliant with loads of flavour, even a few mint leaves in there, and not too much dressing or oil. The pizza was perfectly cooked, crispy base, not too thick and stodgy and a good amount of topping, no scrimping there!

To follow I had the tiramisu which was so flavoursome and light I could have taken a few home with me! Not too much cream, several well flavoured layers of soaked lady fingers and... the pie`ce de resistance... a crushed amoretti biscuit topping which was beautifully crunchy and partly chewy as well, it gave the whole thing more texture and was the perfect topping!

Overall we all had a lovely meal, no complaints here!

We were there for a wedding party and as there were 16 of us there was a little indecision about what we were going to order which seemed to be at odds with the waiters view of how we should have ordered. Food was ok but portions of the same item differed from plate to plate. Overall not a great experience but we didn't allow it to overshadow a great happy occasion.

Superb service, as ever, and excellent cooking of 'Mamma's' recipes. Always reliably good, and as well as the trademark Lasagne slab, I can vouch for the Spag Bol, the Meatballs (Spicier than they seem at first) and especially the chicken and asparagus in cream sauce with penne! Awesome!
