This is one of the smaller national museums and is full of interesting artifacts that bring to life both the world and Swansea.

There are a variety of seperate rooms to spend a few hours learning new things and the staff are allways on hand if you want tsome advice.

We visited today as my father in law, who is a keen metal detector and has donated a roman brooch that he found to the museum so we went to see it in situ. We were very impressed by the collections, especially the Egyptian mummy. Well worth a visit, we will be going back as we were looking for 1.5 hours and we only saw upstairs and it was closing at 5. So allow plenty of time!

A bit all over the place.
There is no one theme to the place.
It looks like they found all the exhibits hear & there gave them a coat of paint & squeezed everything in a too small a space.

This series of reviews are very mis-leading. the Swansea Museum is disgusting, it needs investment or closure and is not worth a visit unless you have time to waste. The National Waterfront Museum, where the plane is, is fantastic, alive and shows a lot to learn from, it has had the investment and is growing, year on year the exhibits teach more and provide more to see. Go to the National Waterfront Museum, give Swansea Museum a wide berth.

Unfortunately this museum was really let down by lack of investment. It should also be noted that a lot of th e reviews here seem to be for the National Waterfront Museum, rather than the Swansea Museum. The location is pretty easy to find an they seem to be doing some serious work outside which will improve the approach. Just hope they move inside and sort out the dated displays. I will give them that the converted library space was well done and some other local authority museums could take note.
