“Lovely apart from the litter”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

Very nice place to take a peacefull walk. Only negatives would be - 1) The block of month's where your not allowed to take your dog on the beach. 2)The litter - maybe more bins should be provided on the beach? especially dog waste bins.

“Outstanding views!”
Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

A beach that's stretches for miles!

It's a great walk with stunning views over to mumbles and on a clear day, the Devon coastline (I think!)
Shops aren't far away but aren't situated on the seafront itself.
Well worth a visit if your in the area

“Not the best beach in the area by a mile”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Great for walking the dog but not good for a day out at the beach. There are so much better beaches within a few miles - Langland and Caswell near Mumbles and the miles of clean, sandy beaches in Gower a bit further away.

“Perhaps the reason a lot of people come to Swansea in the summer....”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Swansea beach is huge. You can see that clearly on a map but to get a true scale you should set off on the beach, look left and then look right and see how the beach spans from you side to side. There is no reason you should feel you don't have enough space because I suspect that even if the whole population of Swansea came onto the beach one day there would still be room enough to roam and enjoy yourself.

The sands are golden, not rocky pebbles like in some places, and perfect for a variety of activities from relaxing and playing to sports, swimming and picnicing. It is a large beach so there is few lifeguards around if any in some areas but it is quite a safe beach. There is a small walk down to the sea edge so be aware of that as well.

While it can be crowded around the marina part of the beach during the summer, a small walk along the beach will let you find the more uncrowded spots. Get in your car and take a short driver up the main road along the seafront. There is a few cars packs up in this direction towards the university so a little effort will pay off. Take water and some food with you as some areas don't have many conveniences to get food at easily.

There is some tidal waves for surfers too but not as great as some you get in the smaller well know coves in the Gower so if you want some real waves i would advice perhaps better to go off in the Gower direction.

Swansea weather being a coastal city can be unpredictable as well so if you do see it is a perfect day grab the chance and head on down to the beach.

There is potential for Swansea to open more eateries and cafes along the beach front to captialise and improve the experience of the beach goers and hopefully in the future this shall be a reality. In the meantime enjoy the golden sands of Swansea's lovely large beach.
